Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We charge the same across the UK, including Ditcheat. What changes the price is:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What the surface is made of
  • How many areas need work
  • Unusual colours or finishes

A repair generally costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Send pictures for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One picture of the whole shower tray

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and no obligation.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new tray can be cheap, but fitting it is not: taking out the enclosure, tiling and resealing. A repair is one visit. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Set against the cost of replacement, a repair is normally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Acrylic

Acrylic-capped trays are lighter, so good support matters. Cracks and scratches can be repaired.

Enamelled steel

Enamelled steel trays behave like steel baths. Exposed metal can rust, so it’s worth repairing early.

Signs you need shower tray repair in Ditcheat

Rigid trays don’t bend, they crack when they sit on an uneven or poorly supported floor. Movement in a timber floor has the same effect.

The things clients generally mention when they call include:

  • A crack across the base
  • Chipped corners or rims
  • Movement when you stand on it
  • Scratches from cleaning or grit

What your quote should include

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How soon you can use it again
  • If travel is included in the price
  • What happens if they find more damage

What a repair cannot fix

Some jobs are not right for a repair, including:

  • A tray that moves underfoot
  • Trays cracked in several places
  • Leaking waste fittings

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Stone resin
  • Cast iron
  • Acrylic
  • Enamelled steel
  • Ceramic

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What happens on the day

We turn up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your pictures first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours, or most of a day for a full resurface, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First we check the tray is solid and work out why any crack happened.
  2. The damaged area, or the whole tray, is cleaned and prepared.
  3. We fill and strengthen any chips or cracks and sand them smooth.
  4. We colour-match the repair, or spray a new finish across the entire tray.
  5. The tray is left to cure and can usually be used the day after.

Preparing for the visit
