Shower tray repair in Ingoldsby, done in place

Stone resin, acrylic and ceramic trays can all be repaired, and worn trays can be resurfaced completely. The tray stays in place, so the enclosure and tiles are not disturbed. We are often asked to fix a dull, stained or worn surface and chips on the edges, across enamelled steel, stone resin and acrylic.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will sort it.

Should you replace it?

The tray is normally the last thing fitted and the first thing tiled up to, so replacing one disturbs a lot around it. Repairing it avoids that disruption. Prices start from £95. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

Different materials, different repairs

Ceramic

Ceramic trays are hard and glossy. Impacts can chip or crack them, and we match the gloss when we repair them.

Stone resin

Stone resin trays are rigid and slim. They need a flat, solid base, and repairs are matched to the gel coat.

What we are called out for in Ingoldsby

Stone resin trays are rigid, so they crack rather than bend when they sit on an uneven or poorly supported floor. Movement in a timber floor has the same effect.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • A crack across the base
  • A tray that creaks or moves underfoot
  • Chips or cracks by the plughole
  • Edge chips from dropped bottles

Questions to ask before booking

  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long
  • Who will actually do the work
  • When it can be used again

How to look after the repair

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Ventilate the room after showers
  • Stick to gentle cleaners
  • Don’t use strong acids or bleach
  • Don’t ignore a tray that flexes

Keep an eye on the sealant, and reseal when it starts to fail.

A tray that moves underfoot needs looking at, before it cracks.

The process

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. The surrounding area is sheeted and masked.
  2. Any sealant in the way is cut out.
  3. We clean and key the tray, then repair the damage.
  4. We refinish the surface to match the tray.
  5. We clean up and give you the curing time.

Before we arrive

  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Point us to the nearest place to park

Advice

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Landlord and trade work in Ingoldsby

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
