Shower tray repair in Spernall without replacing anything

Shower tray repairs are one of our most common jobs. Chips by the waste, cracks across the base and dull, stained surfaces can all be put right without removing the tray. Common call-outs are for chips or cracks by the plughole and a cracked shower tray, across acrylic, cast iron and stone resin.

Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. We do not charge extra for travel to Spernall. The price comes down to:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How many areas need work
  • Access to the area

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A wider photo showing the whole shower tray
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • What it’s made of, if you know

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote the same day in most cases.

Can I fix it myself?

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Different materials, different repairs

Ceramic

Ceramic gives a hard, high-gloss surface. Impacts can chip or crack them, and the repair is polished to match the shine.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it needs firm support underneath. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What a repair can’t fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Plumbing leaks under the tray
  • Water damage to the floor beneath the tray
  • A tray broken in more than one place

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Stone resin
  • Ceramic
  • Acrylic
  • Enamelled steel
  • Cast iron

How the visit works

Once we are through the door, we keep the work contained to the one room. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the job takes a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.

  1. First, we check whether the tray moves.
  2. We clean the damage and open it up so the repair can bond.
  3. Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
  4. The repair is shaped, colour matched and finished.
  5. We leave it to cure, normally until the following day.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Clear the area around the damage

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Related advice

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a tray usually means refitting the screen, retiling and resealing. Repairing it avoids all of that and costs far less. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it.

Why us?

  • Everything repaired in place
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

How to look after the repair

Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:

  • Get a moving tray checked
  • Keep heavy bottles on a shelf
  • Clean with washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Rinse the tray after each shower

Avoid abrasive pads and strong descalers. Warm water and a mild detergent is enough.

Do not keep using a cracked tray. Water may be getting under the tray, and the damage below isn’t visible.
