How we handle shower tray repair in Trezaise
Before repairing a crack, we find out why it happened. If the tray moves, the support is fixed or flagged before we repair it, so the repair lasts. Common call-outs are for a tray that creaks or moves underfoot and chips or cracks by the plughole, across acrylic, enamelled steel and ceramic.
A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

DIY kit or professional repair?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
How it works
Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you know when to expect us. Once we are there, the work takes a few hours, or most of the day to resurface the whole tray in most cases. We leave the room clean and you’ll know when it can be used.
- First, we check whether the tray moves.
- We clean the damage and open it up so the repair can bond.
- Cracks are reinforced and the damage filled.
- The repair is shaped, colour-matched and finished.
- It’s left to cure, usually until the next day.

What your shower tray is made of matters
Enamelled steel
Steel trays have an enamel surface like a steel bath. Chips can rust if they’re left, so early repairs help.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.
Looking after it afterwards
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:
- Get a moving tray checked
- Keep heavy bottles on a shelf
- Rinse the tray after each shower
- Reseal when the silicone splits or turns black
Rinse the tray after use, use mild, non-abrasive cleaners, and keep an eye on the sealant so water cannot get underneath.
Stop using the shower if the tray is cracked. Water can get through to the floor and walls, where it causes damage you can’t see.
