Sink repair in Great Altcar

Sink repair in Great Altcar, done in place

A chip on a basin is hard to ignore. The chip is filled, shaped and polished to blend with the surrounding glaze. Common call-outs are for chips around the rim and damage from dropped bottles or hair tools, in antique & period basins, enamelled basins and Belfast and butler sinks.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we will come back.

Before and after: a damaged ceramic basin restored

Aftercare tips

Good habits make a big difference to how long a repair lasts:

  • Keep straighteners away from the basin
  • Repair chips before they stain
  • Use gentle cleaners
  • Do not overtighten taps

A quick wipe after use helps, and avoid strong bleach or descalers.

Cracks by the tap holes can grow, so it’s worth having it checked quickly. If it’s leaking, turn off the water to the basin until it’s checked.

Why repair rather than replace?

A basin cracked through and leaking needs replacing. For chips and surface damage, repair is the better route. Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Why us?

  • No need to remove anything
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

What happens on the day

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. The work itself takes a couple of hours for most chips, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. First, we check the basin is firm and dry.
  2. The area is degreased and keyed.
  3. We build up the filler and sand it flush.
  4. Colour and gloss are matched.
  5. We tidy up and give you the curing time.

How to prepare

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

How we price sink repair

Repairs from £95. You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • How many areas need work
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • What kind of damage it is

We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Great Altcar. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what we need:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • The material, if you know it
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Pricing is simple: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. There is no charge for the quote and no obligation.

Repairs by material

Period and antique

Period basins frequently have marks and character worth keeping. We repair carefully around original features.

Composite and resin

Many vanity units have resin or composite basins. They repair well, and the colour is mixed to suit.
