Sink repair in Howe Bridge, done in place
When a basin is worn or crazed all over, we can resurface it in place, giving it an even new finish. Common call-outs are for a chipped vanity basin and cracks starting at the waste, in antique & period basins, ceramic & vitreous china basins and Belfast and butler sinks.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Keeping it looking good
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Don’t stand heavy bottles on the edge
- Fittings shouldn’t be over-tightened
- Avoid strong bleach and descalers
- Use gentle cleaners
Clean with mild, non-abrasive cleaners and take care with heavy bottles and hair tools.
Chips near the waste or taps can let water in. Early repair keeps it a small job.
DIY kit or professional repair?
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

What sink repair costs
Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:
- Any earlier repairs that need removing first
- The colour and finish to match
- How many areas need work
- Doing more than one item at once
We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Howe Bridge. The job itself decides the price: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.
Send photos for a quote
Phone photos are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- A picture taken from further back
- The material, if you know it
- A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
To get a price, send two or three pictures using our quote form or call us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.
What your basin is made of matters
Vitreous china
Ceramic basins have a hard, glassy glaze. Matching that shine is the key to a good repair, so we finish the repair to the same sheen.
Composite and resin
Cast mineral and resin basins are common in vanity units. Chips and scratches can be filled and matched, with colour mixed on site.
Signs you need sink repair in Howe Bridge
Basins take knocks every day: bottles, hair straighteners and razors catch the front edge and rim. Cracks tend to start near the tap holes and waste.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- Knocks from hair straighteners
- Crazing in the glaze
- Chips around the rim
- An antique basin with chips
Questions to ask before booking
- How your room will be protected
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
- Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
- How the colour is matched
What happens on the day
Here’s how a visit generally runs: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for a few hours from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you when it can be used and how to care for it.
- First the basin is cleaned and the damage checked.
- The chip or crack is filled and shaped to match the basin.
- We mix the colour to suit the glaze.
- The repair is polished so it blends in.
- You can usually use the basin later that day or the next.
How to prepare
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Let the surface dry out before the visit
- Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
How to get a price
You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

It helps to know what we cannot do:
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
- Through cracks that let water out
