A chipped basin is one of the most noticeable bits of damage in a bathroom. We fill, shape and polish the damage so it blends into the glaze. Typical jobs include cracks starting at the waste and damage from dropped bottles or hair tools, in Belfast and butler sinks, vanity unit basins and enamelled basins.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

What a repair cannot fix

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair can’t fix:

  • A basin cracked through and leaking
  • A basin that moves on its brackets
  • Plumbing leaks

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Ceramic & vitreous china basins
  • Vanity unit basins
  • Enamelled basins
  • Belfast and butler sinks
  • Antique & period basins

Stafford: your questions answered

Can a chip in a sink be fixed?

Yes, it’s one of our most common jobs. The repair is shaped and polished to blend in.

Can you repair an antique basin?

Yes. Period basins are worth keeping, and we repair them sympathetically.

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere in the UK, Stafford included. Travel is included in the price.

Do you work in Stafford?

We do. Technicians travel to Stafford from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Can you repair a cracked basin?

Surface cracks can generally be repaired. A crack that leaks right through generally means a new basin.

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

What happens if you find more damage?

The price is fixed for what the photos show. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Landlord and trade work in Stafford

For anyone letting property in or around Stafford, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send photos for each address and we’ll come back with a combined price.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details and we will arrange it.

Looking after it afterwards

It’s all simple stuff, just a few sensible habits:

  • Get chips repaired early
  • Keep straighteners away from the basin
  • Store toiletries on a shelf
  • Don’t overtighten taps

Treat the basin gently for the first few days, then clean it with mild products. Keep heavy bottles and hot tools away from the rim.

Chips collect dirt and stain over time, so repairing them early keeps the job simple.

Repairing versus replacing in Stafford

Replacing a basin can mean a plumber, new taps and a new waste and making good the tiling. A repair keeps the basin you have. Our sink repair starts from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Why book with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Generally one visit, start to finish
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send pictures.

How it works

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and start once you are happy with the plan. It usually takes a couple of hours for most chips, and you’re welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We clean the basin and check the damage.
  2. We fill the chip or crack and shape it to the original profile.
  3. We colour-match the finish to the glaze.
  4. We polish it into the surrounding surface.
  5. The basin can generally be used later that day or the following day.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Open a window if you can

Get a quote

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire basin, add your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Access to the area
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material and finish

We do not add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

The quickest way to a price is to send a couple of pictures through our quote form or call us. We’ll tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.
