Tile repair in Brooklands

Tile repair at your home in Brooklands

The tile stays where it is, so there’s no need to hunt for a matching tile. A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we’ll say so. We regularly repair natural stone & granite, marble and ceramic tiles, and the jobs we see most are drill holes from removed fittings and discontinued tiles you can’t replace.

Your repair is guaranteed for a year, as with every job we do. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs frequently look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair will not last.

What we are called out for in Brooklands

Floor tiles chip when pans, tins and tools are dropped, and wall tiles get drilled for fittings that are later removed. Movement underneath can also crack tiles.

People usually call us after spotting one of these:

  • Chips from dropped pans and tools
  • Cracked floor tiles
  • Drill holes from removed fittings
  • Damaged tile edges

Common questions in Brooklands

Do you come to Brooklands?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Brooklands. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

What does tile repair cost?

Prices start from £95. We give a fixed price based on pictures of the damage. Send a close-up and a picture of the whole item with your M33 postcode.

Do the materials smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

We ask you to keep children and pets out of the room while we work. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

When we’d advise against a repair

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Natural stone & granite
  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Porcelain tiles
  • Marble

For landlords and businesses

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

The process

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we’re doing. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. You can expect it to take a morning or an afternoon.

  1. We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
  2. The chip, crack or hole is filled.
  3. The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal the repair to suit the finish of the tile.

Advice

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Quotes from your pictures

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Most customers in Brooklands get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we’ll send back a fixed quote and some dates.

Should you replace it?

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, finding a match and risking the tiles around it. A repair keeps the original tile. Our tile repair starts from £95. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why us?

  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • No extra charge for your area
  • No need to remove anything
