Repairing versus replacing in Kirton

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, tracking down a matching tile and risking the tiles around it. A repair leaves the tile where it is. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. A repair typically costs much less than people expect, especially compared with replacing and refitting. About our tile repair in Kirton

If a tile moves, it may need relaying first, and we will tell you. The tile stays where it is, so you don’t need to find a spare. Common call-outs are for drill holes from removed fittings and chips from dropped pans and tools, in ceramic tiles, natural stone & granite and floor and wall tiles.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we’ll explain exactly what it covers when we quote. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

What a repair can’t fix

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Marble
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Ceramic tiles
  • Porcelain tiles

What happens on the day

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room beforehand. Everything we use comes in the van with us, put protection down and get going once we have agreed what we are doing. It normally takes a few hours, and you are welcome to carry on with your day while we work.

  1. We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
  2. Next we fill the damage.
  3. The repair is levelled to the tile surface.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. The repair is sealed to suit the tile’s finish.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know if it has been repaired before
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

What tile repair costs

Repairs from £95. There is no charge for travel to Kirton. The price depends on:

  • How many areas need work
  • The type of damage
  • Access to the area
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for Kirton. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Send photos for a quote

The better the photos, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A wider photo showing the entire tiled area
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.
