Tile repair for Tyning homes

What happens on the day

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we are there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes a morning or an afternoon. Before we leave, we explain how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We start by cleaning the tile and clearing loose fragments.
  2. We fill the chip, crack or hole.
  3. We level and shape the repair to the tile surface.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal it to match the tile.

How we handle tile repair in Tyning

A loose or rocking tile may need relaying first, and we’ll tell you. The tile stays where it is, so there is no need to hunt for a matching tile. If you’re dealing with damaged tile edges and discontinued tiles you can’t replace, we can normally put it right, on marble, ceramic tiles and natural stone & granite alike.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover. Take care with heavy items on repaired tiles, and use a pH-neutral cleaner.

FAQs for Tyning

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the whole tiled area and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can a cracked tile be fixed in place?

Often, yes, if it is not loose.

Is repairing better than replacing?

In most cases, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

Is there a guarantee?

All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.

What affects the price in Tyning

Prices start from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we take into account:

  • Access to the area
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • How many areas need work

Compared with replacing, a repair is generally a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

Getting a price from pictures

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. Try to include:

  • Any earlier repairs or coatings
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale

Call 0345 017 0787 or use the quote form. With one close-up and one wider picture, we can give you a fixed quote.

Why repair rather than replace?

Swapping out a damaged tile involves breaking out the old tile, tracking down a matching tile and risking the tiles around it. Repairing it leaves the tile where it is. Our tile repair starts from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you’ll get a fixed figure.

Why book with us

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Fixed prices from your photos
  • One price list for the entire UK

When a repair isn’t the answer

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Loose or hollow tiles that need relaying
  • Cracks caused by a moving floor, until the floor is fixed
  • Whole walls of failing grout

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Floor and wall tiles
  • Marble
  • Natural stone & granite
  • Porcelain tiles
  • Ceramic tiles

Can I fix it myself?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.
