Toilet chip repair for California homes

Toilet chip repair at your home in California

We rebuild the damaged area and match it to the glaze, so the toilet stays in place. A crack that leaks can’t be fixed with a cosmetic repair, and we’ll say so if we find one. We work on porcelain, cisterns & lids and pedestals, and common reasons people get in touch are pieces knocked off during fitting and damage from dropped items.

Big or small, it’s backed by a one-year guarantee. Avoid dropping heavy items and use non-abrasive cleaners on the outside of the pan and cistern.

What we do, step by step

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which normally takes one to two hours. If anything looks different from your pictures, we’ll talk to you before going ahead.

  1. We clean and dry the damaged area.
  2. Next we rebuild the missing piece to its original shape.
  3. It’s sanded flush.
  4. The glaze is colour matched and finished.
  5. Finally we polish it into the surrounding glaze.

Before we arrive

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Clear the area around the damage

Advice

Common questions in California

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Can you repair a chipped toilet?

Yes. Chips to the pan, rim, cistern and lid are the most common jobs.

Do you cover the whole of Birmingham?

Across the UK, so California is covered. Our prices are the same everywhere.

Can you fix a cracked toilet that leaks?

No. A leaking crack needs the toilet replacing. We fix chips and broken pieces.

Do I have to be there?

We need someone to let us in. You don’t need to watch us work.

Do you do work for letting agents?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Birmingham.

Can you quote from photos?

Usually, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new toilet needs a plumber and possibly new flooring, and the matching cistern may be discontinued. A repair leaves it in place. Prices start from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.

Why California clients choose us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Most jobs done in one visit

Should I try a DIY kit first?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is normally cheaper.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What we are called out for in California

Most toilet chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted, or when something heavy is dropped. Cistern lids get chipped surprisingly frequently.

The things clients usually mention when they call include:

  • Damage from dropped items
  • Pieces knocked off during fitting
  • Chips on the cistern lid
  • Chips on the pan or rim

What to look for in a quote

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • How to care for the finish
  • How changes to the job are handled

What affects the price in California

Prices start from £95. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • The material
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What kind of damage it is
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

Rather than charging by the hour, we price the entire job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A wider photo showing the whole toilet
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the toilet, add your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

For landlords and businesses

If you manage property in California, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.
