Toilet chip repair for Engine Common homes

How we handle toilet chip repair in Engine Common

Chips are rebuilt and colour matched to the glaze, so the toilet stays in place. A crack that leaks cannot be fixed with a cosmetic repair, and we’ll tell you if that’s what we find. We are frequently asked to fix marks on the outside of the pan and pieces knocked off during fitting, in pedestals, cisterns & lids and vitreous china.

Every repair is covered by a one-year guarantee. Avoid dropping heavy items and clean the outside of the pan gently.

How we price toilet chip repair

Repairs from £95. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • What kind of damage it is

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

How to get a fixed price

A couple of clear pictures is all it takes. It helps if you send:

  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

Send us a photo of the damage and one of the whole item, and tell us you are in Engine Common, and we will reply with a fixed price.

For landlords and businesses

Builders, developers and site managers book us for snagging repairs, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new toilet needs a plumber and possibly new flooring, and a matching cistern may no longer be made. A repair keeps the toilet you have. Prices start from £95. The price reflects the work involved, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with no extras added later.

What a repair cannot fix

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • A crack that leaks water
  • A crack through the bowl or trap
  • A loose pan or leaking seal (that’s a plumbing job)

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

How the visit works

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take an hour or two, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. First the damaged area is cleaned and dried.
  2. Next we rebuild the missing piece to its original shape.
  3. We sand it flush.
  4. We match the colour to the glaze.
  5. The repair is polished so it blends in.

Preparing for the visit

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it does not stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send pictures, as it can add time.

What we are called out for in Engine Common

  • Chips on the pan or rim
