Toilet chip repair in Lydbrook

How we handle toilet chip repair in Lydbrook

Chips are rebuilt and colour matched to the glaze, so the toilet stays in place. A crack that leaks cannot be fixed with a cosmetic repair, and we will say so if we find one. Common call-outs are for chips on the cistern lid and damage from dropped items, across pedestals, vitreous china and toilet pans.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Lydbrook as everywhere else we work. Avoid dropping heavy items and clean the outside of the pan gently.

Before and after: a damaged toilet pan restored by Surface Doctor

Should you replace it?

A new toilet needs a plumber and possibly new flooring, and the matching cistern may be discontinued. Repairing the chip keeps the toilet you have. Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Lydbrook. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How we price toilet chip repair

Repairs from £95. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The type of damage
  • How much damage there is
  • The material and finish

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send pictures for a quote

You can generally get a fixed quote without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A wider photo showing the entire toilet

We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

What a repair cannot fix

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • A crack that leaks water
  • A crack through the bowl or trap
  • A loose pan or leaking seal (that’s a plumbing job)

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

What we’re called out for in Lydbrook

Toilets and cisterns normally get chipped during fitting, or from a dropped lid or bottle. Cistern lids get chipped surprisingly often.

  • Damage from dropped items
  • Pieces knocked off during fitting
  • Chips on the cistern lid
  • Marks on the outside of the pan

What to look for in a quote

  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • Whether cleaning and preparation are in the price
  • How your room will be protected
  • What the guarantee covers, and for how long

Choosing a repair company

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

Letting agents often send us photos straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

FAQs for Lydbrook

Are there extra charges for Lydbrook?

There’s no separate call-out charge. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Can you price it without visiting?

In nearly every case. If photos don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Which areas do you work in?

We cover the whole UK, including Lydbrook and the rest of Gloucestershire. Send your postcode with your pictures and we will confirm dates.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the materials cure.

What happens next?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If we need another angle, we will ask.

What do you need from me?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire toilet and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

The process

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can carry on at home. We protect the area first, then the job itself takes an hour or two. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. First the damaged area is cleaned and dried.
  2. Missing material is filled and rebuilt to the original shape.
  3. We sand the repair level.
  4. The glaze is colour matched and finished.
  5. We polish the repair to blend it in.

How to prepare

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, make sure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.
