Toilet chip repair for New Zealand homes

How we handle toilet chip repair in New Zealand

Chips are rebuilt and colour-matched to the glaze, so you don’t need a plumber or a new toilet. A crack that leaks cannot be fixed with a cosmetic repair, and we will say so if we find one. Whether it’s pieces knocked off during fitting and damage from dropped items, we can help, on vitreous china, cisterns & lids and porcelain alike.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. If anything isn’t right, ring us and we’ll come back. Take care with heavy items and clean the outside of the pan gently.

Why repair rather than replace?

A new toilet means a plumber and possibly new flooring, and the matching cistern may be discontinued. A repair keeps the toilet you have. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. No two jobs are quite the same, so each one is priced on its own. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

Why us?

  • Repair technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures

How the visit works

Expect a friendly, tidy visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, then carry out the work, which usually takes an hour or two. If anything looks different from your photos, we will talk to you before going ahead.

  1. First the damaged area is cleaned and dried.
  2. Missing material is filled and rebuilt to the original shape.
  3. It’s sanded flush.
  4. The glaze is colour-matched and finished.
  5. The repair is polished so it blends in.

Before we arrive

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Getting a price

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it does not stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

Common problems we fix in New Zealand

Most toilet chips happen while the bathroom is being fitted, or when something heavy is dropped. Cistern lids get chipped surprisingly often.

People normally call us when they notice something like this:

  • Pieces knocked off during fitting
  • Marks on the outside of the pan
  • Chips on the pan or rim
  • Chips on the cistern lid

Our hiring checklist

How we price toilet chip repair

Repairs from £95. There’s no area surcharge for New Zealand. What changes the price is:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

We charge the same wherever you are, with no extra for New Zealand. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the entire toilet

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire toilet, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

For landlords and businesses

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll handle the rest.

Letting agents often send us pictures straight from the inventory. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Common questions in New Zealand

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, we frequently do. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Can you fix a cracked toilet that leaks?

No. A leaking crack needs the toilet replacing. We repair cosmetic chips and breaks.

Is there a call-out fee?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed price covers the visit and the work.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we will reply with the earliest dates.

What happens after I send pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote and the next dates we have.

Can you quote from photos?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

When we’d advise against a repair

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • A crack that leaks water
  • A crack through the bowl or trap
  • A loose pan or leaking seal (that’s a plumbing job)

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.
