UPVC repair for California homes

uPVC repair in California, done in place

Builders and developers use us for snagging repairs too. The damage is filled and refinished to match the frame, woodgrain finishes included. If you are dealing with damage during building work and holes from removed fittings and alarms, we can normally put it right, on window frames & sills, doors & door panels and conservatory frames alike.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right. Warm soapy water and a soft cloth are all it needs. Avoid solvents and abrasive cleaners.

Landlords, agents and businesses in California

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in California as well as homeowners. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it normally costs far less than a refit.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

What we’re called out for in California

uPVC is hard-wearing, but it does get damaged: ladders, tools and building work scratch and chip it, candles and cigarettes mark sills, and old fittings leave holes.

Common reasons people in California contact us are:

  • Damage during building work
  • Holes from removed fittings and alarms
  • Scratches from ladders and furniture
  • Chips and dents

Questions to ask before you book

  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • If travel is included in the price
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers

Our hiring checklist

Should you replace it?

Replacing the frame or sill is a much bigger job, and it may not match the rest after years of weathering. Repairing the damage leaves the unit in place. Prices start from £95. It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • Every repair guaranteed for a year
  • No extra charge for your area
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

Read our prices page.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

What we cannot put right

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, for example:

  • Failed or misted double glazing units
  • Broken locks, hinges or mechanisms
  • Frames that are warped or out of square

Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly before booking.

What we work on

  • Doors & door panels
  • White uPVC
  • Conservatory frames
  • Coloured and woodgrain uPVC
  • Window frames & sills

What affects the price in California

Prices start from £95. You’ll know the full cost before booking. We look at:

  • Access to the area
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • What the surface is made of

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

How to get a fixed price

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • Any details about the material
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

No survey visit is needed: we price from pictures. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

What happens on the day

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you and checks the damage against your photos first. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before any work starts. The work itself takes a morning or an afternoon, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We clean the frame or panel.
  2. Next we fill the damage.
  3. The repair is sanded smooth.
  4. We colour-match the finish, including woodgrain effects.
  5. The repair is blended into the surface around it.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Open a window if you can
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings

Common questions in California

Can you repair something that is been repaired before?

Yes, regularly. Removing the old work can add time, and that is in the quote.

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum, and it soon fades.

What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?

We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses across Norfolk.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Can you price it without visiting?

Usually, yes. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.
