Repairing versus replacing in Hillfields

Replacing the frame or sill is a much bigger job, and new uPVC may not match the weathered frames around it. Repairing the damage leaves the unit in place. Prices start from £95. Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

What you get with us

  • A year’s guarantee on all work
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Generally one visit, start to finish

Take a look at our prices page.

Can I fix it myself?

A DIY attempt is not a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

When to call us in Hillfields

uPVC is tough but not indestructible: ladders, tools and building work scratch and chip it, candles and cigarettes burn sills, and removed fittings leave holes.

These are the problems we’re asked about most:

  • Chips and dents
  • Holes from removed fittings and alarms
  • Scratches from ladders and furniture
  • Burns on sills

Questions to ask before booking

  • What happens if they find more damage
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • What aftercare is recommended

Our hiring checklist

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. There’s no area surcharge for Hillfields. What changes the price is:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material and finish

It helps to know what pushes a price up or down: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from photos

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Any details about the material
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Something in shot to show the size

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: take one close-up and one wider shot of the window, door or sill, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.
