Need worktop repair in Harvest Hill?

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

How we handle worktop repair in Harvest Hill

A new worktop rarely matches the old one, especially in an L-shaped or long kitchen. Repairing the damage keeps your kitchen as it is. Our repair technicians work on solid surface (such as Corian), solid wood and laminate, and common reasons people get in touch are scratches and knife marks and a dent from a dropped pan.

Whatever the size of the job, you get the same one-year guarantee in Harvest Hill and across Coventry.

FAQs for Harvest Hill

Do you repair quartz?

Yes. We repair quartz chips regularly, filled and polished to match.

Is a burnt worktop repairable?

In most cases. A picture lets us check.

Do you cover the entire of Coventry?

We cover the entire UK, including Harvest Hill and the rest of Coventry. Send your postcode with your photos and we will confirm dates.

Can pets and children be at home?

Keep pets and children away from the work area on the day, mainly so nothing gets touched before it has cured.

How much do I need to move?

Only around the repair. You can normally still use the rest of the kitchen.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

In most cases, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Will there be a smell?

Expect a mild smell while we are working, which fades afterwards.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing even one length of worktop means templating, cutting, fitting and frequently a new sink and hob connection. A repair takes a few hours and leaves everything in place. Prices start from £95. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

The process

We turn up when we said we would, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. Dust sheets and masking tape go down before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours, depending on the damage, and the room is left clean and tidy.

  1. The area around the damage is protected.
  2. The damage is cleaned and any loose material removed.
  3. We fill it and level it with the worktop.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal and polish it to the right sheen.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Move bottles, mats and clutter away from the area

Ask for a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

What we cannot put right

Before booking, it’s worth knowing the limits:

  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
  • Failed support under the worktop
  • Cracks right through stone that has moved

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

What we work on

  • Laminate
  • Solid wood
  • Quartz
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Granite & marble

What worktop repair costs

Repairs from £95. Each job gets its own fixed price. These are the things that affect it:

  • The type of damage
  • How many areas need work
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Unusual colours or finishes

We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Getting a price from photos

Phone photos are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just make sure we can see:

  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

For a price in Harvest Hill, the easiest route is photos: a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode. You’ll get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Common problems we fix in Harvest Hill

Edges and corners chip most frequently, frequently when something heavy catches the edge.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Scratches and knife marks
  • A dent from a dropped pan
  • A heat mark or burn
  • A damaged sink edge

What your quote should include

  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Who will actually do the work
  • How long it needs to cure

How to compare quotes

Repairs by material

Laminate

Laminate worktops have a printed decorative layer over a board core. Chips and burns are filled and the pattern recreated.

Solid surface

Solid surface materials are uniform throughout, so marks can often be sanded and refinished.

Keeping it looking good

How the surface is treated afterwards matters. Here’s what we suggest:

  • Keep a trivet by the hob
  • Keep joints and edges dry
  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Chopping boards prevent scratches

Use chopping boards and trivets, wipe spills right away, and re-oil wooden worktops regularly.

A burn or chip can get worse with daily use, especially near the sink. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.
