About our worktop repair in King Row

We repair chips, burns and scratches in laminate, stone, quartz, solid surface and wooden worktops, with colour and pattern matched by hand. The worktop stays in place. We regularly repair solid wood, quartz and solid surface (such as Corian), and common reasons people contact us are chips on edges and corners and a chipped quartz edge.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. If anything is not right, ring us and we’ll sort it.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Dry around the sink and joints
  • Use pH-neutral cleaners on stone
  • Do not cut directly on the worktop
  • Never put hot pans down directly

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse, especially near the sink. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.

King Row: your questions answered

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Do you repair quartz?

Yes. The repair is colour matched and polished to the quartz’s finish.

What happens if you find more damage?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Usually, when the rest is in good condition. A repair avoids removal and making good. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Can you match granite flecks?

Yes, the pattern is built up by hand.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.

Are there extra charges for King Row?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Should you replace it?

Swollen or badly damaged laminate may need replacing. For chips, burns and scratches, repair is usually far better value. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for King Row. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

What we do, step by step

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job usually takes a morning or an afternoon. We clean up when we’re done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. First we look at the damage and what the worktop is made of.
  2. We clean the area and prepare the edges of the damage.
  3. A filler that suits the material goes in, and missing edges are rebuilt.
  4. We match the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. Finally we seal or finish the area to match.

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
