About our worktop repair in Limpsfield

Worktops are expensive to replace and hard to match, particularly where several lengths join. A repair leaves the kitchen untouched. Whether it’s chipped corners and a chipped quartz edge, we can usually put it right, on solid surface (such as Corian), granite & marble and quartz alike.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Should you replace it?

If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, repair is generally far better value. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. The price depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your pictures, so there are no surprises on the day.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but the repairs we redo most often are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Doing it properly first is typically the cheaper route.

What we cannot put right

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • A top that moves on its units
  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
  • Laminate swollen by water from underneath

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer before booking.

Materials we repair

  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble
  • Quartz
  • Solid wood
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and clear up. Allow a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. We look at the damage and the worktop’s finish.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. The area is filled and shaped.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Let us know which floor the room is on

How to get a price

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the worktop, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Our hiring checklist

Materials and what they mean for the repair

Granite and stone

Natural stone worktops chip at edges and around cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

Solid surface

Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so marks can often be sanded and refinished.

Questions from Limpsfield

Will the repair match a patterned worktop?

Colour, flecks and veins are recreated by hand, so the repair blends into the surface.

Is repairing better than replacing?

Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We will be honest if it’s not worth it.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

How quickly can you book me in?

We’ll give you dates with your quote. If it’s urgent, say so and we’ll do what we can.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children.

Is a burnt worktop repairable?

In most cases. Send us a picture and we will tell you what’s possible.

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Do the materials smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work, which fades afterwards.

Keeping it looking good

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Re-oil timber worktops
  • Steer clear of strong cleaners
  • Don’t let water sit on joints
  • Never put hot pans down directly

Let the repair cure for the time we give you before putting anything heavy or hot on it. After that, trivets and chopping boards are your best protection.

A chip on an edge can grow, and water can reach the core of laminate. Repairing it early stops that.
