  • A heat mark or burn
  • Snagging damage in a new kitchen

About our worktop repair in London Apprentice

You don’t need a new worktop because of one mark. We fill and refinish the damage to blend into the surface around it. Our technicians work on solid surface (such as Corian), solid wood and granite & marble, and the jobs we see most are burns from hot pans and cuts and scratches in the surface.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in London Apprentice and everywhere else. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Repairs by material

Laminate

A laminate worktop is a thin decorative layer on a board. Damage is filled and the pattern painted in by hand.

Solid surface

Solid surface tops are the same material all the way through, so scratches and burns can frequently be sanded out and refinished.

London Apprentice questions

Do I have to be there?

Someone needs to let us in and show us the job. After that, you can carry on with your day.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote.

Will there be a smell?

It depends on the job, but often a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Are there extra charges for London Apprentice?

We do not add a call-out fee. The fixed quote covers the visit and the work.

What information do you need?

Just pictures, your postcode and a contact number. On the day, we only need access to the room.

Do you cover the whole of Cornwall?

Across the UK. Our prices are the same everywhere.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes, but check with your landlord or agent first. Landlords are frequently glad to have it sorted before the end of a tenancy.

Repairing versus replacing in London Apprentice

Even if you could get the same laminate, it may not match after years of light and use. A repair is matched to what you have now. Prices start from £95. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why choose Surface Doctor in London Apprentice

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Normally one visit, start to finish
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

For landlords and businesses

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams in Cornwall and across the UK. Repairing in place avoids the disruption of a replacement, which matters when someone is living in the home.

How the visit works

There’s not much you need to do on the day. Let us in and show us the room, and we will take it from there. Most visits take a morning or an afternoon, tidy-up included.

  1. We start by checking the damage and the worktop material.
  2. Next we clean up and prepare the damaged area.
  3. We fill the damage with a suitable filler and build up any lost edge.
  4. The colour and pattern are matched by hand.
  5. The surface is sealed or finished to suit the worktop.

How to prepare

  • Point us to the nearest place to park
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Advice

How we price worktop repair

Prices start from £95. You will know the full cost before you book. We look at:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Access to the area
  • How many areas need work
  • How hard the colour is to match

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for London Apprentice. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Getting a price from photos

Phone pictures are fine, there’s no need for anything special. Just ensure we can see:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

To get a price, send two or three photos using our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly if a repair is the right fix.
