Worktop repair in Paul

Paul questions

Do the materials smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work that clears as it cures.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.

Do you repair quartz?

Yes, often. We match the colour and polish the repair.

What happens after I send photos?

We come back with a fixed quote, normally with dates to choose from. There’s no obligation to book.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so let us know about it.

Will the repair match a patterned worktop?

Colour, flecks and veins are recreated by hand, for a repair that blends in.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the whole UK, including Paul and the rest of Cornwall. Send your postcode with your photos and we will offer you dates.

About our worktop repair in Paul

Each type of worktop needs a different approach: laminate is filled and patterned, quartz and stone are filled and polished, and wood is sanded and refinished. We always aim for a repair that blends in. If you’re dealing with damage around the sink cut-out and chips in quartz or granite, we can typically put it right, on solid wood, laminate and solid surface (such as Corian) alike.

You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Paul as everywhere else we work.

Prices and what affects them

Repairs from £95. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Unusual colours or finishes

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before you book, with no extras added later.

Getting a price from photos

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole worktop, include your postcode and send them over. You will get a fixed quote, not an estimate.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Stone and quartz have to be templated and cut, so replacing one section is a big job. Repairing it is a few hours’ work. Our worktop repair starts from £95. The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before booking.

Why us?

  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Work done at your home or business
  • One visit for most repairs

Take a look at our pricing.

How the visit works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Then the area is sheeted and masked and the work begins. Allow a few hours, and we’ll tell you if anything changes.

  1. We protect the rest of the kitchen.
  2. We clean the damage and remove anything loose.
  3. It’s filled and levelled with the surface.
  4. The colour and pattern are built up by hand.
  5. We seal and polish it to the right sheen.

Before we arrive

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Tell us if there are stairs or a lift

What a repair cannot fix

We would rather lose a job than do one that will not last, so here’s what a repair can’t put right:

  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
  • A worktop that has moved because its support has failed
  • Laminate that has blown or swollen

If in doubt, send photos and we will say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Granite & marble
  • Laminate
  • Solid wood
  • Quartz
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)

Keeping it looking good

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Do not leave spills to soak in
  • Use a chopping board
  • Keep a trivet by the hob
  • Re-oil timber worktops

Hot pans should always go on a trivet. Heat can mark quartz and stone as well.

Do not leave damage by the sink, as water can get in and cause swelling.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it won’t stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
