Worktop repair in Penley, done in place

Each type of worktop needs a different approach: we fill and pattern laminate, fill and polish quartz and stone, and sand and refinish wood. We always aim for a repair that blends in. Typical jobs include chips near the sink and a chipped edge, in granite & marble, solid surface (such as Corian) and laminate.

A one-year guarantee comes with the work, just as it does everywhere we cover.

Landlord and trade work in Penley

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we will arrange it.

Letting agents frequently send us photos straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

What we’re called out for in Penley

Water around the sink can get into laminate and wood joints, and that can make them swell.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Chips caused during installation
  • Gouges in the surface
  • A chipped quartz edge
  • Cuts and scratches in the surface

What your quote should include

  • What preparation is included
  • How the colour is matched
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the pictures show

10 questions to ask before booking

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £95. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • The material

Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Send photos and we will give you the exact figure.

Send photos for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. Try to include:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One picture of the whole worktop
  • The material, if you know it
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the whole worktop, add your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

Questions from Penley

Does someone need to be in?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Can you match the pattern on my worktop?

We match colour, flecks and veining by hand, so the repair blends into the surface.

Do I need to empty the worktop?

Only around the repair. You can generally still use the rest of the kitchen.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

In nearly every case. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures can’t show what we need.

How soon can you come?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Can a scorch mark be fixed?

In most cases. A picture lets us check what’s possible.

Will there be a smell?

There can be some smell while we work, so we ventilate the room. It fades as everything cures.

Will it make a mess?

We protect the room with dust sheets and masking first, and we clean up when we’ve finished.

What a repair can’t fix

It helps to know what we can’t do too:

  • A cracked stone top that is unsupported
  • Laminate swollen by water from underneath
  • Discolouration deep in quartz

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Quartz
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Laminate
  • Granite & marble
  • Solid wood

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Plan for a morning or an afternoon from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. We look at the damage and the worktop’s finish.
  2. Burnt or loose material is cut back.
  3. We fill and shape the damaged area.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. We finish it to match the sheen and leave it to cure.

How to prepare

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat

Related advice

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Never put hot pans down directly
  • Use a chopping board
  • Don’t leave spills to soak in

Leave the repaired area free of hot or heavy items until it has cured. After that, trivets and chopping boards protect it best.

Edge chips can get bigger, and on laminate, water can get into the core. An early repair prevents it.

What your worktop is made of matters

Quartz

Quartz is tough, though edges can chip. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them to the worktop’s finish.

Laminate

A laminate worktop is a thin decorative layer on a board. We fill damage and paint in the pattern by hand.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a worktop means removing the old one, templating and fitting a replacement and refitting the sink and hob, and it may not match the rest of the kitchen. Repairing the damage leaves the worktop in place. Prices start from £95. Instead of hourly rates, we price the whole job up front. It depends on the damage, the material and access.

Why book with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Dust sheets down, tidy finish
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • A fixed quote before booking
