Worktop repair near Stock

Worktop repair in Stock, done in place

Matching a pattern is the skilled part of a worktop repair. We build up the colour and flecks by hand. We work on granite & marble, solid wood and solid surface (such as Corian), and people most often call us about damage around the sink cut-out and chips on edges and corners.

The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If something isn’t right in that time, we come back and put it right.

Should you replace it?

An identical replacement may look different next to aged worktops. A repair is matched to what you have now. Prices start from £95. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book.

Why choose Surface Doctor in Stock

  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Same prices wherever you are
  • Nothing taken out or refitted
  • Rooms protected and left tidy

Take a look at our pricing.

Looking after it afterwards

How the surface is treated afterwards matters:

  • Avoid harsh chemicals on stone and quartz
  • Do not knock pans against the edge
  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Do not leave spills to soak in

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

Daily use can make burns and chips worse. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

What affects the price in Stock

Repairs from £95. We don’t charge extra for travel to Stock. The price depends on:

  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • What the surface is made of

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there’s no premium for Stock. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your photos

Before you send pictures, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection

There’s no need for us to visit first. Nearly every job can be priced from photos: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote.

Stock questions

Is there any odour?

Expect a mild smell while we are working.

Can you quote from photos?

Nearly always. We only ask to see it in person if the pictures cannot show what we need.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

What information do you need?

Photos of the damage, a photo of the entire worktop and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

Do I need to clear the kitchen?

Only the area we are working on. We protect the rest of the kitchen.

The process

Your technician turns up at the time we agreed with you, introduces themselves and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before we open a single tin. Most visits take a few hours, depending on the damage, and we leave the room as we found it.

  1. We assess the damage and the worktop material.
  2. The area is cleaned and the edges of the damage prepared.
  3. We fill the damage with a suitable filler and build up any lost edge.
  4. We recreate the colour and pattern by hand.
  5. We seal or finish the surface to suit the worktop.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Mention if the room is upstairs or in a flat
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

Getting a price

Ring 0345 017 0787, or send us pictures through the quote form. With a clear picture of the damage and one of the entire worktop, we can give you a fixed price the same day in most cases.

Landlord and trade work in Stock

Hospitality businesses cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We can work around your bookings.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair won’t last.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

What your worktop is made of matters

Wood

Wooden worktops can be sanded, filled and re-oiled, with burns and dents put right.

Granite and stone

Granite and stone chip at edges and cut-outs. The repair is filled and polished to the stone’s finish.

When to call us in Stock

Cut-outs for the sink and hob are the weakest parts, so cracks and chips often start there.

Signs it’s time to call us include:

  • Cuts and scratches in the surface
  • Snagging damage in a new kitchen
  • Scorch marks from pans
  • A damaged sink edge

Before you book anyone

  • How soon you can use it again
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • What preparation is included
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges
