What a repair can’t fix

We will not take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Laminate that has blown or swollen
  • Deep heat discolouration in quartz, which may not fully disappear
  • A cracked stone top that is unsupported

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly before booking.

What happens on the day

Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you’re not left guessing. On site, it takes a few hours, depending on the damage. We leave the room clean and you’ll know when it can be used.

  1. We look at the damage and the worktop’s finish.
  2. We cut back any burnt or loose material.
  3. We fill and shape the damaged area.
  4. The pattern, flecks or grain are recreated.
  5. It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Advice

Can I fix it myself?

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

What affects the price in Wildridings

Repairs from £95. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it

Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Wildridings. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • One picture of the entire worktop
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size

To get a price, send a couple of photos through our quote form or ring us. We will say right away whether it can be repaired.

Repair or replace in Wildridings?

If the worktop is swollen by water or badly damaged along its length, replacement may be the answer. For chips, burns and scratches, repair is usually far better value. Repairs from £95, with every job priced individually. Compared with replacing, a repair is typically a fraction of the price, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. What you get with us

  • No need to remove anything
  • We come to you, anywhere in the UK

Work for landlords and builders

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

Repairs by material

Solid surface

Solid surface materials are uniform throughout, so marks can often be sanded and refinished.

Quartz

Quartz is tough, though edges can chip. We fill chips with a tinted resin and polish them to the worktop’s finish.

Keeping it looking good

Nothing complicated is needed:

  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Don’t leave spills to soak in
  • Dry around the sink and joints
  • Don’t knock pans against the edge

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

A burn or chip can get worse with daily use. Repairing it sooner keeps the job smaller.
