Worktop repair near Wray

About our worktop repair in Wray

Each type of worktop needs a different approach: we fill and pattern laminate, fill and polish quartz and stone, and sand and refinish wood. We always aim for a repair that blends in. We work on solid surface (such as Corian), solid wood and granite & marble, and common reasons people get in touch are chipped corners and knife marks.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee, so you’re not left on your own once we’ve gone.

Work for landlords and builders

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, so there is no need to replace a damaged item at the last minute. We can visit several plots in one trip to keep costs down.

The process

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive on time, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a few hours, depending on the damage from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to care for it.

  1. We look at the damage and the worktop’s finish.
  2. We cut back any burnt or loose material.
  3. The area is filled and shaped.
  4. We recreate the pattern, flecks or grain.
  5. It’s finished to the same sheen and left to cure.

How to prepare

  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
  • Ensure the room can be ventilated
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Related advice

Should you replace it?

Replacing a worktop means taking out the damaged top, templating and fitting a replacement and refitting the sink and hob, and matching the rest of the kitchen can be hard. A repair leaves the worktop in place. Prices start from £95. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Wray. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Common questions in Wray

Will there be a smell?

A little, depending on the job. Open windows and an extractor fan help, and it soon fades.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

You get a fixed price and available dates. If anything’s unclear, we’ll ask for another photo.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. We’ll offer you dates when we send your quote.

Can you match granite flecks?

Colour, flecks and veins are recreated by hand, for a repair that blends in.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Yes. Ask your landlord first, and we can send them the quote if that helps.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you will get one combined price.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Is there a guarantee?

Yes: twelve months. If there’s a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Honest limits

We won’t take on work that won’t last, so these are the limits:

  • Cracks right through stone that has moved
  • Laminate that has blown or swollen
  • Failed support under the worktop

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Laminate
  • Solid wood
  • Solid surface (such as Corian)
  • Granite & marble
  • Quartz

How to care for the repair

To keep it looking its best:

  • Always use a trivet for hot pans
  • Steer clear of strong cleaners
  • Keep wood oiled
  • Do not let water sit on joints

Never put hot pans straight onto the worktop. Even stone and quartz can be marked by heat.

A burn or chip can get worse with daily use, especially near the sink. An earlier repair is a smaller repair.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.

How we price worktop repair

Repairs from £95. You won’t pay by the hour. The price is based on:

  • The material and finish
  • How much damage there is
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • Doing more than one item at once

Compared with replacing, repairing generally costs far less, because there is no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

How to get a fixed quote

Two or three clear photos are generally enough. Try to include:

  • One picture of the entire worktop
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus

If you are in Wray and want a price, the easiest route is pictures: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. We reply with a fixed quote and our next available dates.

Do you need worktop repair in Wray?

Most worktop damage takes a second: a hot pan put down without a trivet, or a heavy pan knocked against the edge. Scratches build up more slowly, from knives and grit.

People typically call us when they notice something like this:

  • Damage to a stone worktop
  • Gouges in the surface
  • Burns from hot pans
  • A damaged sink edge
