Bath re-enamelling near Aberporth

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Aberporth

After re-enamelling, the bath has a smooth, glossy, new-looking surface, but without the cost and upheaval of a refit. It suits anyone happy with the bathroom apart from the bath. Our repair technicians work on acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and cast iron baths, and common reasons people get in touch are a peeling or bubbling previous coating and worn patches where water runs and sits.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you are set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

FAQs for Aberporth

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

Yes, regularly. It can add a little time, which we include in the quote.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Generally, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. If replacing would be better, we will say so.

Do you cover Aberporth?

Yes. We cover the entire UK and travel to Aberporth and the rest of Ceredigion. Send pictures and we’ll quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Will there be a smell?

Some materials have a smell while they’re applied, which is why we ventilate. It fades as everything cures.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Generally one day, with the bath ready the day after. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Will there be fumes?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It clears as the finish cures.

What your bath is made of matters

Pressed steel

Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

What happens on the day

On the day, we arrive at the time we’ve agreed, cover the area with dust sheets and masking, and set to work. The job generally takes most of the day. We clean up when we are done and tell you when it’s ready to use.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. Once cured, normally by the following day, the bath is ready.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. Each job gets its own fixed quote. This is what makes a difference:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • What the surface is made of
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off

Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Send pictures for a quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what we need:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • Something in shot to show the size

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed price, not an estimate.

For landlords and businesses

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, pictures and access details and we’ll handle the rest.

Hospitality businesses need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

Common problems we fix in Aberporth

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • A coloured bath you want in white
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Chips and rust in more than one place

Before you book anyone

  • How changes to the job are handled
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • Whether there are any call-out or travel charges

How to compare quotes

Should you replace it?

A replacement often means several trades over several days. Re-enamelling is one technician, typically one day, and the bath is usable the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We charge the same wherever you are, so there’s no premium for Aberporth. What changes the price is the job itself: the material, the amount of damage and how many items.

Why us?

  • Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
  • Free fixed quotes from pictures
  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

See our prices page or resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

When we would advise against a repair

In fairness, some problems need a different fix:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Problems we cannot see until an old finish comes off

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.
