How we handle bath re-enamelling in Aish

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Resurfacing them in place keeps the original bath. We are frequently asked to fix brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and an old resurfacing that’s failing, in acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee.

When a repair is not the answer

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair will not do:

  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler often lifts.

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, a professional repair is worth it.

Do you need bath re-enamelling in Aish?

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.

Typical reasons for a call-out include:

  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • Stains that will not shift
  • Lots of chips and rust spots
  • A coating lifting around the plughole

What your quote should include

  • The length of the guarantee and what it covers
  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How soon you can use it again
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show

Landlord and trade work in Aish

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, fixing chips and scratches before handover. We are CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Common questions in Aish

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Aish?

Resurfacing from £350. Because every job differs, we price from pictures. You’ll get a fixed figure before booking.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Let us know what was used before.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes, and it’s often cheaper. Just add the extra items to your photos and you will get one combined price.

How long does re-enamelling last?

Care for it and it lasts. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Typically one day, with the bath ready the day after. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Can landlords book you?

Yes, frequently. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Can I get a quote without a visit?

Normally, yes. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Keeping it looking good

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:

  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Repairing versus replacing in Aish

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: it’s very heavy, may need breaking up, and the replacement can be costly. Re-enamelling avoids all of it. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Why book with us

  • Most jobs done in one visit
  • Colour-matched on site
  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited

The process

Arrival times are agreed in advance. On site, it takes a full day in most cases. The room is left tidy and ready to use once it has cured.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Clear the area around the damage
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
