How we handle bath re-enamelling in Almshouse Green

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without a refit. It’s the answer when the entire bath is tired rather than one spot. Whether it’s a bath in a colour that no longer suits and stains that won’t shift, we can typically put it right.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months in Almshouse Green and everywhere else. We return to put right any problem with the work.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacement only makes sense in a few cases: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you’re refitting the whole room anyway. In most other cases, resurfacing is the better choice. Prices start from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Why book with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • One visit for most repairs
  • Everything repaired in place
  • Fixed prices from your pictures

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Avoid suction-cup mats
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, so limescale can’t build up.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so have it stripped and resurfaced.

Can I fix it myself?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is usually cheaper.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

How we price bath re-enamelling

Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We take into account:

  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • Access to the area
  • How many items we do on one visit
  • The size and number of damaged areas

A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

Getting a price from photos

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • The material, if you know it
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A photo taken from further back
  • Where you are, by postcode

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote. Quotes are free and no obligation.

When to call us in Almshouse Green

Enamel does not fail overnight. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use dull the surface, usually first under the taps and around the waste.

If you can see any of these, send us a picture:

  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off
  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A roll-top that is seen better days
  • Wear marks under the taps

Comparing quotes

  • How your room will be protected
  • What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
  • What prep work is covered
  • When it can be used again

10 questions to ask before booking

Repairs by material

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, as long as any rust is dealt with first. Steel frequently rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

What a repair cannot fix

To be straight with you, some problems need a different fix:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Almshouse Green

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it normally saves money. Send pictures of everything together and you will get one combined price.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Almshouse Green?

Resurfacing from £350. Every job gets a fixed quote based on photos of the damage. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your CO9 postcode.

Are you accredited?

We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.

Does re-enamelling smell?

There is some smell while the coating is applied, which is why we ventilate the bathroom. It clears as the finish cures.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Usually, if the item is otherwise sound. Repairing avoids the cost and disruption of replacing. We will tell you honestly if replacement makes more sense.

Is there a call-out fee?

We don’t add a call-out fee. Your fixed price includes everything.

How durable is a resurfaced bath?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. We bring everything we need with us, put protection down and start once you are happy with the plan. Most jobs take the best part of a day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the day after.

How to prepare

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
  • Open a window if you can

Getting a price

Getting a quote takes a couple of minutes: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, include your postcode and send them over. You’ll get a fixed quote, not an estimate.
