What affects the price in Appleton Thorn

Prices start from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Appleton Thorn. The price depends on:

  • What kind of damage it is
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Doing more than one item at once

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. The full price is agreed before you book, with nothing added on the day.

Send pictures for a quote

When you take your photos, a few simple things make all the difference:

  • A photo taken from further back
  • Something in shot to show the size
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
  • Details of any past repairs

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will come back to you with a fixed figure.

Bath re-enamelling in Appleton Thorn without replacing anything

The bath stays where it is, so the taps, tiles and plumbing are not touched. Most baths are done in one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. If you are dealing with a coloured bath you want in white and a peeling or bubbling previous coating, we can normally put it right, whatever the material.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Can I fix it myself?

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

For a hairline mark somewhere you will never see, a kit may be enough. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

What happens on the day

We work cleanly and quietly, so you can stay at home while we are there. We protect the area first, then the work takes a full day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to look after it.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Related advice

When to call us in Appleton Thorn

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. After years of use, the surface becomes porous and stains easily.

These are the problems we are asked about most:

  • An old resurfacing that’s failing
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Stains that won’t shift

What your quote should include

  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • What prep work is covered
  • Who will actually do the work
  • If travel is included in the price

10 questions to ask before you book

Appleton Thorn: your questions answered

Do you need to take the bath out?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room masked and ventilated.

Do I have to be there?

Yes. We need access to the room while we work, at a time we agree with you.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Is there a guarantee?

Every repair comes with our one-year guarantee. We will explain what it covers when we quote.

What happens after I send pictures?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged before the end of a tenancy.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Usually one day, with the bath ready the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Can you repair several things at once?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Repair or replace: which is better?

If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is typically much cheaper than replacing it, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. We give a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Why us?

  • We will tell you if it’s not worth repairing
  • Rooms protected and left tidy
  • CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accredited
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best:

  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Store bottles off the bath

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface.
