Bath re-enamelling near Ardsley

Bath re-enamelling in Ardsley without replacing anything

We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. We’re frequently asked to fix enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough and lots of chips and rust spots, on pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there is a problem and we’ll come back.

Should you replace it?

Replacing the bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Prices start from £350. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. You’ll see the full price before booking, with no extras added later.

What you get with us

  • Colour-matched on site
  • Honest advice, even when it means no job

How we price bath re-enamelling

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price is based on:

  • The colour and finish to match
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Ardsley. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Getting a price from pictures

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A close-up of the damage, in focus
  • One picture of the entire bath

If you’re in Ardsley and want a price, pictures are the quickest way: one close up, one from further back, plus your postcode. You will get a fixed quote with dates to choose from.

Common problems we fix in Ardsley

The gloss on enamel is thin, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

The most common problems we’re called about are:

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits

Work for landlords and builders

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We can work around your bookings.

We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out photos. That means we can quote before you even visit the property, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.

Common questions in Ardsley

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners in Ardsley.

Will the price change on the day?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. If there’s more, we’ll tell you before starting.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Just keep them out of the work area. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

How long does re-enamelling take?

Normally one day, with the bath ready the day after. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Can you repair something that’s been repaired before?

Most of the time. Tell us what was done before and we’ll plan for it.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.

What information do you need?

Send pictures through the quote form or call 0345 017 0787, and we will take it from there.

Is there a smell?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

The process

Nothing needs to be moved out of the room. Everything we use comes in the van with us, lay protective sheets and get going once we have agreed what we’re doing. It usually takes a full day, and you can get on with other things while we are there.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Open a window if you can
  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area

How to get a price

Upload pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, with your S71 postcode, and we’ll come back with a fixed quote.

Advice

What we cannot put right

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly.

Materials we work on in Ardsley

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Should I try a DIY kit first?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple, and it makes a real difference:

  • Wash away dyes and oils after use
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Store bottles off the bath

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
