Bath re-enamelling near Avoch

Bath re-enamelling in Avoch without replacing anything

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, once the bath has been cleaned, repaired and prepared. We regularly repair acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and Victorian roll-tops, and people most frequently call us about an old resurfacing that’s failing and an original cast iron bath that needs restoring.

Peace of mind is built in: our one-year guarantee applies to every job, and we explain what it covers before booking.

Honest limits

Some jobs aren’t right for a repair, including:

  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A bath split right through the body

Send us photos and we will tell you honestly before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. There is no charge for travel to Avoch. The price depends on:

  • How many items we do on one visit
  • How hard the colour is to match
  • The type of damage
  • How much damage there is

Our prices are the same across the UK, so there is no premium for Avoch. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

How to get a fixed quote

Almost every job we do is priced from pictures. This is what to send:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • One picture of the whole bath

You do not need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

The process

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, do the job and tidy away. Allow a full day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Preparing for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Make sure the area is dry
  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day

Advice

Keeping it looking good

It’s all simple stuff:

  • Store bottles off the bath
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Can I fix it myself?

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

What we are called out for in Avoch

Enamel’s shine is only skin deep, and every scrub with an abrasive cleaner takes a little away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.

You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:

  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • A bath that stays dull however much you clean it
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • Thin, worn enamel in places

Questions to ask before booking

  • How the colour is matched
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • Whether a trained technician does the job
  • What happens if they find more damage

Work for landlords and builders

If you manage property in Avoch, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we’ll price them together.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath normally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, and the bath can be used the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send pictures and you will get a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • One-year guarantee on every repair
  • Typically one visit, start to finish
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Nothing taken out or refitted

Avoch questions

How do I book?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

Can you change the colour of my bath?

Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Mention it when you send photos.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Normally one day, with the bath ready the day after. A badly pitted bath can need a second day.

Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?

Normally, if the item is otherwise sound. A repair avoids removal and making good. If replacing would be better, we’ll say so.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we’re working in. We’ll tell you when the room can be used again.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes. We can do the inside and outside.

Do the materials smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work.
