Bath re-enamelling for Ayot Green homes

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Ayot Green

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. We’re often asked to fix a bath in a colour that no longer suits and a period or roll-top bath worth keeping, on cast iron baths, Victorian roll-tops and acrylic baths.

A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you’re covered after the visit.

Ayot Green questions

Do the materials smell?

There may be a mild smell during the work.

Is it safe with children and pets around?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair isn’t disturbed while it cures.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes, for a year. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.

Will it make a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we leave the room clean.

What happens next?

We come back with a fixed quote, plus dates. You’re under no obligation.

Do I need to be at home?

Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time we agree with you.

Are there extra charges for Ayot Green?

Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.

Honest limits

A repair isn’t always the answer, and we will tell you before we start. Repairs won’t solve:

  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Why repair rather than replace?

There are times replacing is better: a cracked-through bath, a change of size or shape, or a full refit. Otherwise, resurfacing generally wins. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Keeping it looking good

Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Don’t use the bath until it has fully cured

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and any rust spreads underneath. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change

10 questions to ask before booking

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Ayot Green use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so we keep visits short and tidy. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.

How the visit works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, sheet and mask the area around the job, carry out the work and tidy away. Plan for most of the day from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We prepare the surface and apply a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s normally ready the day after.

How to prepare

  • Keep children and pets away from the room on the day
  • Tell us about parking, stairs or access
  • Open a window if you can

Advice

What affects the price in Ayot Green

Prices start from £350. We price every job individually. The main factors are:

  • What the surface is made of
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How hard the colour is to match

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your pictures is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Send pictures for a quote

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage, and it saves a visit. Try to send:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Any earlier repairs or coatings

Send us pictures of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your AL6 postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
