Bath re-enamelling in Ayton without replacing anything

Resurfacing renews the whole surface of the bath without taking anything out. It suits baths that are dull, stained, rough or chipped all over. Our technicians work on acrylic baths, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and people most frequently call us about a coating lifting around the plughole and an outdated colour you’d like to change.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

Should I try a DIY kit first?

It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that is fine. We remove the old filler and start again, so it will not stop us repairing it. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Ayton: your questions answered

Can tenants book a repair?

We’re happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.

Will there be fumes?

A little, during the work. Ventilation keeps it down, and it fades as the finish cures.

Is there any odour?

There may be a mild smell during the work.

Can you fix a peeling bath coating?

Normally, yes. The old coating comes off before we resurface it. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

What happens after I send pictures?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote and the next dates we have.

Can I add another job to the visit?

Of course, and it usually saves money. Just add the extra items to your pictures and you’ll get one combined price.

Can you redo someone else’s repair?

In most cases. The old repair comes out first, so mention it when you send pictures.

Can you re-enamel a roll-top bath?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that is the part we put right.

What happens on the day

Here’s how a visit usually runs: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Allow most of the day. Before we go, we will explain when it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive

Get a quote

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them to us with your postcode, and you will get a fixed quote back. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

What we’re called out for in Ayton

Once enamel loses its gloss, it stains more easily, and scrubbing it wears it down further. At that stage, resurfacing is the fix.

Keep an eye out for these signs:

  • A peeling or bubbling previous coating
  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Stains that won’t shift
  • Several chips and rust patches

Choosing a repair company

Why repair rather than replace?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

What you get with us

  • Work done at your home or business
  • CHAS and Constructionline accredited
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
  • We leave the room as we found it

Read our prices page and resurfacing vs replacement cost guide.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. We give every job a fixed quote from pictures. These are the things that affect it:

  • What the surface is made of
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
  • The colour and finish to match

We charge the same wherever you are, so there is no premium for Ayton. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.

Quotes from your pictures

You can usually get a fixed quote without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • Details of any past repairs
  • The material, if you know it
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed quote, not a guess.

When a repair is not the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • A bath split right through the body

Send us pictures and we’ll tell you honestly.

  • Victorian roll-tops
