Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Ballynahinch

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, and only the surface is worn. Underneath, a cast iron or steel bath is typically as strong as ever.

Keep an eye out for any of the following:

  • A roll-top that’s seen better days
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • Stains that will not shift
  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean

Our hiring checklist

Bath re-enamelling in Ballynahinch, done in place

Many of the baths we re-enamel are period roll-tops, which are heavy, hard to move and costly to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. Common call-outs are for an old resurfacing that’s failing and lots of chips and rust spots, on pressed steel baths, cast iron baths and basins & shower trays.

You are covered after we leave: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we will explain exactly what it covers when we quote.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:

  • The type of damage
  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • How hard the colour is to match

What it costs depends on the type and amount of damage, the material and how many jobs we combine into one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so you know the cost before you book.

Send photos for a quote

Two or three clear pictures are normally enough. Try to include:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area

Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a picture from further back, send them over with your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price. There’s no charge for the quote and no obligation.

How the visit works

It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We confirm the time with you beforehand, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes a full day. If we find something your photos didn’t show, we will explain it before carrying on.

  1. The room is masked, protected and ventilated.
  2. We clean and degrease the bath and repair any chips or rust.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. We spray several coats of new enamel finish.
  5. The bath is left to cure and can normally be used the following day.

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Send the address, photos and access details.

Letting agents frequently send us pictures straight from the inventory. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we can arrange access with the tenant directly if that helps.

Questions from Ballynahinch

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed price without visiting.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Ballynahinch?

Resurfacing from £350. We give a fixed quote from your photos. Send a close-up and a photo of the whole item with your BT24 postcode.

Will the bath be moved?

Not at all. Everything is done in your bathroom, with the room protected and ventilated.

Can you make a coloured bath white?

Yes, white is the usual choice. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

Is it OK to have pets in the house?

On the day, the room should be kept clear of pets and children, so the repair is not disturbed while it cures.

Are you accredited?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If there is a problem with the work in that time, we come back and put it right.

Is it messy?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

What we can’t put right

We will always be straight with you, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer.

What we work on

  • Acrylic baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it needs firm support underneath. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you’ve already tried a DIY fix, that’s fine. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it fails, we can still put it right.

Looking after it afterwards

Aftercare is simple:

  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • Have chips seen to early

Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and don’t leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.
