Bath re-enamelling in Carryduff, done in place

Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without taking anything out. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. We are frequently asked to fix a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and staining under the taps and around the waste, across basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths.

The work is covered for a year after we finish. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll sort it.

Honest limits

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • A bath split right through the body
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up

Send us photos and we’ll tell you honestly.

Surfaces we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays

Repairing versus replacing in Carryduff

A new bath means a plumber, lifting out the old bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and days without a bathroom. Re-enamelling gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, especially compared with replacing and refitting. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

What we’re called out for in Carryduff

Hard water speeds up the wear, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.

You may need us if you’ve spotted:

  • Wear marks under the taps
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
  • Brown or grey marks that do not clean off

What to look for in a quote

  • When it can be used again
  • A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
  • How the room is protected while they work
  • If travel is included in the price

Aftercare tips

To keep it looking its best:

  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Avoid suction-cup mats

Wipe the bath dry after use where you can, and rinse off any bath products.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading, and each one adds to the preparation. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

Carryduff: your questions answered

What happens after I send photos?

We check the damage, the material and your postcode, then reply with a quote.

Can you do the outside of a roll-top?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

Do you cover Carryduff?

Yes, we do. Repair technicians travel to Carryduff from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Does the bath have to be removed?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so the tiles and taps stay put.

Does re-enamelling smell?

Some odour is normal while we spray, so we ventilate the room. It fades as the coating cures.

Will the price change on the day?

We’ll show you and explain before doing anything extra. Nothing extra is done without your say-so.

What information do you need?

Use the quote form or ring 0345 017 0787, and we will do the rest.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

What we do, step by step

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to a full day, including clearing up.

  1. The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

How to prepare

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Keep pets and children out of the room while we work
  • Have a window or extractor fan available

Ask for a price

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There is no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. There is no area surcharge for Carryduff. The price reflects:

  • Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Doing more than one item at once

We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed price

You can usually get a fixed price without us visiting. To make it quick:

  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A picture taken from further back
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Where you are, by postcode

A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the whole bath, include your postcode and send them to us. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we check it carefully.

DIY repairs versus a professional job

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, and give it the full curing time. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
