Bath re-enamelling in Bircher without replacing anything

We do not move the bath, so your taps, tiles and plumbing are left alone. Most baths are done in one visit, and can be used again the following day. Whether it’s staining under the taps and around the waste and several chips and rust patches, we can help, on pressed steel baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops alike.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we’ll come back.

Bircher: your questions answered

Do you cover the whole of Herefordshire?

We cover the whole UK, including Bircher and the rest of Herefordshire. Just include your postcode and we’ll offer you dates.

Do you work in Bircher?

We do. Repair technicians travel to Bircher from across the region, with no extra charge for travel.

Will you leave a mess?

No. The work area is masked and covered, and we leave the room clean.

Can pets and children be at home?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit and until it has cured. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

What happens if you find more damage?

Your quote covers the damage in the photos. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

I rent my home. Can I book you?

Of course. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. The inside is resurfaced, and we can refinish the outside as well.

Do you charge for travel?

Travel is included in the price, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Keeping it looking good

Aftercare is simple:

  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners

Give the finish its full curing time before using the bath. After that, a soft cloth and washing-up liquid is all it needs.

Do not try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and tidy away. Allow a full day from start to finish. Before we go, we’ll explain when it can be used and what to avoid for the first few days.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. The surface is prepared and a bonding primer applied.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. We leave it to cure, and it’s generally ready the day after.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know about parking or access
  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Related advice

When we’d advise against a repair

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • A cast iron or steel bath that’s cracked right through

Not sure? Send pictures and we will give you a straight answer.

Materials we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Repairs by material

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Resurfacing from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we take into account:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • What the surface is made of

Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and combining items on one visit brings it down.

Send photos for a quote

We price nearly every job from photos. This is what to send:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • A coin or ruler next to the damage for scale
  • Daylight if possible, and no flash reflection
  • A picture taken from further back

Send us pictures of the damage and one of the entire item, and tell us you’re in Bircher, and we will come back with a fixed quote.

Repair or replace: which is better?

A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, re-tiling or making good the walls and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing renews the entire surface with the bath left where it is. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A few things move the price: access, material, the extent of the damage and whether we can do several items together. Photos let us give you a fixed figure.

What you get with us

  • Colour-matched on site
  • A fixed quote before booking
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • A year’s guarantee on all work

See our prices page and guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

What we’re called out for in Bircher

Enamel wears gradually. Abrasive cleaners, limescale and years of use wear the gloss away, starting where water runs and sits.

The most common problems we are called about are:

  • A dull, rough surface that will not come clean
  • Staining under the taps and around the waste
  • Worn patches where water runs and sits
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

Comparing quotes

How to compare quotes

For landlords and businesses

We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Just send photos, the address and how to get access.

Rental properties take more wear, and replacing items every time a tenant leaves is expensive. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.
