Re-enamelling gives a worn bath a new glossy surface without a refit. It’s the answer when the whole bath is tired rather than one spot. Repair or replace: which is better?
A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Resurfacing gives the bath a new finish with the bath left where it is. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We do not add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How it works
Your technician turns up when we said we would and looks over the damage before anything else. The floor and nearby surfaces are covered before any work starts. The work itself takes the best part of a day, and the room is left clean and tidy.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures until the following day.

Looking after it afterwards
Nothing complicated is needed, just a few sensible habits:
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- Don’t leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Don’t let dyes or oils sit on the finish
Treat the new finish gently at first: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. From then on, avoid abrasives and suction mats.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Resurfacing from £350. Every quote is fixed and free. What we look at:
- What the surface is made of
- Whether we combine several jobs
- Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
- How easy the damage is to reach
The price reflects the work involved, not where you live. The full price is agreed before booking.
Send pictures for a quote
You can normally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:
- Details of any past repairs
- A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- One picture of the whole bath
We price from pictures so you don’t have to wait in for a survey. Send them through the quote form, or call 0345 017 0787 if you’d rather talk it through, and you’ll get a fixed figure back.

Can I fix it myself?
What a professional repair adds is preparation, colour matching and finishing. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, and the work is guaranteed.
DIY kits are sold for most surfaces, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface isn’t prepared the repair will not last.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Biscot
The gloss on enamel is thin, and abrasive cleaning slowly wears it away. Eventually the surface turns porous and stains.
You may need us if you’ve spotted any of these:
- Staining under the taps and around the waste
- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- An old resurfacing that’s failing
- Lots of chips and rust spots
Questions to ask before booking
- What happens if the damage is worse than the photos show
- The length of the guarantee and what it covers
- What prep work is covered
- A fixed price, and whether VAT is included
Materials and what they mean for the repair
Cast iron
Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.
Pressed steel
Steel baths and trays have a thin metal body under the enamel. Exposed steel rusts quickly, so we treat and seal the metal before filling.
