Can I fix it myself?

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

Bath re-enamelling in Blackhall Rocks, done in place

Cast iron, steel, acrylic, roll-top and period baths can all be resurfaced. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. We are often asked to fix an original cast iron bath that needs restoring and a coating lifting around the plughole, on Victorian roll-tops, cast iron baths and acrylic baths.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee.

Aftercare tips

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Repair dripping taps early
  • Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs right away
  • Have chips seen to early

The first few days matter most: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.

Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It just wears the enamel further and makes resurfacing more work.

Honest limits

A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. We cannot fix:

  • Problems we can’t see until an old finish comes off
  • Holes rusted through the metal
  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot

Not sure? Send photos and we will give you a straight answer before you book.

Materials we repair

  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths

Landlords, agents and businesses in Blackhall Rocks

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. A repair between tenancies is a cheaper way to keep the property in good order.

We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Blackhall Rocks as well as householders. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it costs much less than replacing.

Repairs by material

Acrylic

We resurface acrylic baths as well, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

How it works

On the day itself, there’s little for you to do. Let us in and show us the room, and we’ll get on with it. The job generally runs to most of the day, tidy-up included.

  1. We mask and protect the room and ventilate it.
  2. The bath is cleaned, degreased and any chips or rust repaired.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the next day, the bath is ready.

Getting ready for the visit

What do you need from me?

A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Are there extra charges for Blackhall Rocks?

No. Our quotes include travel, with the same prices everywhere we work.

Do you come to Blackhall Rocks?

Do you resurface freestanding baths?

Yes, roll-tops are a big part of our work. We resurface the inside, and the outside can be refinished too.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Generally a day, then it’s ready to use the following day. Deeply pitted baths may need a second day.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Blackhall Rocks. The price depends on:

  • The material
  • Doing more than one item at once
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before booking, with nothing added on the day.

Quotes from your photos

Two or three clear pictures are usually enough. It helps if you send:

  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • What it’s made of, if you know
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One sharp close-up of the damage

Most customers in Blackhall Rocks get their price from photos. Add a line about what happened and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.
