How we handle bath re-enamelling in Brickhouses

Most baths are re-enamelled in a day, and you can use the bath the following day. Nothing is disconnected or removed. We work on cast iron baths, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths, and people most frequently call us about brown or grey marks that don’t clean off and a coating lifting around the plughole.

We stand behind the work with a one-year guarantee.

Can I fix it myself?

For a hairline mark somewhere you’ll never see, a kit may be enough. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, a professional repair is worth it.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Getting it right first time is typically cheaper.

Honest limits

Honesty matters more than a booking, so here’s what a repair won’t do:

  • Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
  • Acrylic that moves when you stand in it

Not sure? Send photos and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book.

Surfaces we repair

  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Acrylic baths
  • Victorian roll-tops

Landlord and trade work in Brickhouses

If you manage property in Brickhouses, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Just send photos for each address and we will price them together.

For developers and builders, we fix damage before handover, saving last-minute replacements. Several plots can be done in one visit to keep costs down.

Prices and what affects them

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • How many areas need work
  • The colour and finish to match
  • Any earlier repairs that need removing first
  • How easy the damage is to reach

We don’t add extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

How to get a fixed quote

Before you send photos, these tips help us give you a firm price:

  • Natural light rather than flash
  • The material, if you know it
  • Your postcode, so we can check dates
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before

Upload a photo of the damage and a wider shot of the whole item, with your CW11 postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed price.

Repairs by material

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

What we do, step by step

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can carry on at home. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a full day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.

How to prepare

  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Advice

Common questions in Brickhouses

Will you leave a mess?

Very little mess: we sheet and mask everything nearby, and we take our waste away with us.

What happens once I’ve sent photos?

We review the photos and send a fixed quote.

How do I book?

Some photos, your postcode and how to reach you. On the day, access to the room.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include photos of each item.

It’s been repaired before. Can you still fix it?

In most cases. We remove the old repair before doing a new one, so mention it when you send pictures.

How soon can you come?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

In most cases. We strip the failing coating and resurface it properly. Tell us about it when you ask for a quote.

How long does re-enamelling last?

Look after it and it lasts. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

Should you replace it?

A replacement frequently means several trades over several days. Resurfacing takes one technician and typically a day, and the bath is usable the day after. Prices start from £350. A few things move the price: the amount of damage, the material, access to the area, and how many jobs we do in one trip. Send photos and you will get a fixed figure.

How to care for the repair

Looking after the surface is easy, and it makes a real difference:

  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • A quick wipe after use keeps limescale away

Wait for the curing time we give you before the first bath. Then, gentle cleaning with a soft cloth is enough.

The longer worn enamel is left, the rougher it gets, and rust spots spread under the surface. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
