Bath re-enamelling in British, done in place
Re-enamelling is a one-day job for most baths. Taps, tiles, panels and plumbing all stay in place. We work on acrylic baths, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and people most frequently call us about thin, worn enamel in places and a coating lifting around the plughole.
A one-year guarantee comes as standard, so you are covered after the visit.

How it works
A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, carry out the work and clear up. Plan for the best part of a day from start to finish. Before leaving, we tell you how long to leave it and how to care for it.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
- The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
- We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
- We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.
Preparing for the visit
- Make sure the area is dry
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

British questions
What do you need from me?
A close-up, a wider photo and your postcode. Then we will agree a date.
Can a failed resurfacing be redone?
Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.
Is there a call-out fee?
Travel is included in the price, and we charge the same wherever you are.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Include pictures of each item.
Can you redo someone else’s repair?
Yes, we often do. Removing the old work can add time, and that’s in the quote.
Can you resurface a pink bath in white?
Yes, white is the usual choice. Tell us what you’d like when you ask for a quote.
Do I need to be at home?
We need someone to let us in. After that, you can carry on with your day.
Is it worth repairing rather than replacing?
Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. If it isn’t worth repairing, we’ll tell you.
Different materials, different repairs
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot for the finish to last.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
DIY repairs versus a professional job
If you’re set on a kit, follow its instructions closely and work on a clean, dry surface, and do not use it until it has fully cured. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.
It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but the repairs we redo most frequently are DIY ones that have discoloured or lifted. Getting it right first time is generally cheaper.
Keeping it looking good
To keep it looking its best:
- Keep suction mats out of the bath
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
- Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
- Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
Treat the new finish gently at first: let it cure fully, then use mild cleaners only. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and any rust spreads underneath. Resurfacing sooner means less repair work first.
How we price bath re-enamelling
Resurfacing from £350. Quotes are free and the price is fixed. What we look at:
- Doing more than one item at once
- Previous DIY repairs that have to come out
- The colour and finish to match
- What the surface is made of
Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for British. What changes the price is the job itself: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
Getting a price from pictures
Photographing the damage takes a minute, and it saves a visit. Try to send:
- Something in shot to show the size
- One picture of the entire bath
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- One sharp close-up of the damage
You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.

What else we do in British
Should you replace it?
Replacing a bath usually involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, and the bath can be used the day after. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. A repair is priced on what needs doing, not where you live. You’ll see the full price before you book, with nothing added on the day.
