Bath re-enamelling in Broadclyst, done in place
We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. The finish is sprayed on in several coats over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. We regularly repair acrylic baths, cast iron baths and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are a bath in a colour that no longer suits and brown or grey marks that don’t clean off.
You get a one-year guarantee, the same in Broadclyst as everywhere else we work.

When a repair is not the answer

- A metal bath with a through crack
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.
What we work on

Looking after it afterwards
So the finish stays in good condition for years:
- Respect the curing time we give you
- Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
- Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent
- Have chips seen to early
Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, do not use suction bath mats, and do not leave bottles or razors standing on the surface.
Avoid scrubbing a dull bath with abrasive cleaners. It removes more of the surface and makes resurfacing more work.

What your bath is made of matters
Roll-top and period baths
Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
Cast iron
A cast iron bath is heavy enough that most people never want to move it. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that’s the part we put right.
Repair or replace: which is better?
A new bath means a plumber, removing a heavy bath, making good the walls and tiles and several days without a working bathroom. Re-enamelling renews the whole surface without moving it. Prices start from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your pictures, so you know the cost before you book.
Why us?
- Free fixed quotes from pictures
- One visit for most repairs
- Colours mixed by hand to suit your surface
- Everything repaired in place

DIY kit or professional repair?
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully, ensure the area is clean and completely dry, and don’t use it until it has fully cured. If it doesn’t work out, we can still repair it properly.
Broadclyst questions
Can you change the colour of my bath?
Yes. We can resurface a coloured bath in white, and the basin and toilet can be done too.
Is there a smell?
Yes, while we are applying the finish. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.
Is there any odour?
A little, depending on the job. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.
Are you a vetted contractor?
We’re accredited with CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile.
Can you do more than one item on the same visit?
Yes. Combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down. Send photos of everything you’d like done.
Can you price it without visiting?
Yes, almost always. Clear photos let us give you a fixed quote without visiting.
Can landlords book you?
Yes. We carry out repairs for homeowners, landlords, letting agents, builders and businesses in Broadclyst.
I rent my home. Can I book you?
We are happy to deal with the tenant, landlord or agent. Get your landlord’s agreement first.
Prices and what affects them
Prices start from £350. There is no area surcharge for Broadclyst. What changes the price is:
- How easy the damage is to reach
- The size and number of damaged areas
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- Unusual colours or finishes
Our prices are the same across the UK, with no extra for Broadclyst. The job itself decides the price: how much damage, what it’s made of and how many items.
How to get a fixed price
Good photos mean an accurate price. Here’s what helps:
- Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare
- Your postcode, so we can check dates
- A close-up of the damage, in focus
- One picture of the whole bath
You do not need a survey visit. Nearly every job can be priced from pictures: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we will reply with a fixed price.
The process
Arrival times are agreed in advance, so you’re not left guessing. On site, it takes a full day in most cases. We leave the room clean and ready to use once it has cured.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- Several coats of finish are sprayed on, then it cures.
Preparing for the visit
- Make sure the area is dry
- Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
