Bath re-enamelling in Brooklands

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Brooklands

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. You end up with a smooth, glossy surface. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, acrylic baths and cast iron baths, and common reasons people get in touch are chips and rust in more than one place and a coating lifting around the plughole.

All our work is covered by our one-year guarantee.

Your questions about bath re-enamelling in Brooklands

Does re-enamelling smell?

A little, during the work. We set up ventilation and the smell fades as it cures.

When can you do it?

Your quote comes with available dates. Tell us if you need it done quickly.

Can pets and children be at home?

Yes, as long as they stay out of the room we are working in. We will let you know when it’s safe to use again.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

Is it messy?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

Will the bath be moved?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

How do I get a price for bath re-enamelling in Brooklands?

Resurfacing from £350. Every job gets a fixed price from your pictures. Send a close-up of the damage and a wider photo with your SN15 postcode.

Are you a vetted contractor?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Different materials, different repairs

Cast iron

Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. Only the enamel surface wears or chips, and that’s what we repair.

Roll-top and period baths

We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep suction mats out of the bath
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Get any chip repaired quickly

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, especially in hard water areas, to stop limescale building up.

Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.

Work for landlords and builders

Rented homes see more wear and tear, and replacing things at every changeover adds up. Repairing between tenants keeps the property presentable for less.

If you manage property in Brooklands, we can repair and quote for several addresses together. Send pictures for each one and we’ll come back with a combined price.

DIY kit or professional repair?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it fails, we can still put it right.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For damage in plain view, cracks, holes or rust, or coloured finishes, it’s worth having it done properly.

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a cast iron bath is a big job: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Prices start from £350. Rather than charging by the hour, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

How it works

Visits start with a quick look at the job together. Then the area is sheeted and masked and we start. You can expect it to take most of the day, and we’ll keep you posted as we go.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

For most jobs, photos are all we need to give you a price. Tell us what happened and where you are, and we will reply with a fixed quote and the earliest dates we have.

What a repair cannot fix

Not everything can be repaired, and we’d rather say so up front. Repairs will not solve:

  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath
  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it

If in doubt, send pictures and we’ll say what we think.

Surfaces we repair

  • Pressed steel baths
  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. We do not charge extra for travel to Brooklands. The price comes down to:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area
  • The size and number of damaged areas
  • The material and finish

There are no surprise extras on the day. What we quote from your pictures is what you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Quotes from your pictures

Most quotes are done from photos alone. To make it quick:

  • Details of any past repairs
  • A picture taken from further back
  • A clear, close picture of the problem area
  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the entire item, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. There’s no charge for the quote and you’re under no obligation.
