Bath re-enamelling in Burchett's Green

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Burchett's Green

We re-enamel a lot of period and roll-top baths, which would be difficult and expensive to replace. Doing them in place keeps an original feature. Whether it’s a peeling or bubbling previous coating and a dull, rough surface that won’t come clean, we can usually put it right.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

Should you replace it?

For a sound bath, resurfacing costs far less than replacement, once you add removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating to the price of a new bath. It’s also far quicker. Prices start from £350. Compared with replacing, a repair is usually a fraction of the price, because there’s no removal, plumbing or making good. The quote lists exactly what you’re paying for.

Why us?

  • Colour-matched on site
  • A fixed quote before you book
  • We leave the room as we found it
  • No need to remove anything

See our prices page or guide to resurfacing and replacement costs.

Different materials, different repairs

Pressed steel

Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, with a coating system suited to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Landlord and trade work in Burchett's Green

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Burchett's Green use us as well as homeowners. Repairing between tenancies keeps void periods short, and it usually costs far less than a refit.

We’re used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send photos, the address and how to get access and we’ll handle the rest.

Can I fix it myself?

The difference between a kit and a professional repair is mostly in the preparation and colour. We prepare the area properly, mix the colour on site and polish the finish to match, then guarantee it for a year.

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

What affects the price in Burchett's Green

Resurfacing from £350. There is no area surcharge for Burchett's Green. The price reflects:

  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • How much damage there is
  • Where the damage is and how we get to it
  • How many items we do on one visit

A repair is priced on what needs doing, not your postcode. The full price is agreed before you book, with no extras added later.

Send photos for a quote

You can generally get a fixed price without us visiting. To help us price it:

  • A coin beside the damage so we can judge size
  • Any details about the material
  • Where you are, by postcode
  • Natural light rather than flash

To get a price, send a couple of pictures using our quote form or ring us. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired.

How to look after the repair

Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. These habits help:

  • Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
  • Leave the bath for the full curing time before using it
  • Have chips seen to early
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Fix dripping taps quickly.

Rust spots on a worn bath get worse with time. Resurfacing before they spread keeps it simpler.

What we cannot put right

To be straight with you, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • A poorly supported acrylic bath, until it’s firmed up
  • A bath that’s rusted through
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Materials we repair

  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths

Burchett's Green questions

Is it safe with children and pets around?

Please keep children and pets out of the room during the visit. Everywhere else in the home is fine.

Will the price change on the day?

The price is fixed for what the pictures show. Anything extra is discussed before we begin.

Someone resurfaced my bath and it’s peeling. Can you help?

Yes. Stripping the old coating adds time, so it’s reflected in the quote.

Will the new finish last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

Are you a vetted contractor?

Yes. Our accreditations include CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor. See our accreditations page for the full list.

Can landlords book you?

Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as householders across Windsor and Maidenhead.

Do the materials smell?

There can be some smell while we work. It fades as everything cures.

Is a repair better than a new one?

Generally, yes. A repair skips the removal, fitting and redecorating. If it isn’t worth repairing, we will tell you.

What happens on the day

Here’s how a visit typically runs: we arrive on time, protect everything around the work area, do the job and clear up. Allow the best part of a day. Before we go, we will explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
  2. Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
  3. We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
  4. We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
  5. The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the day after.

Before we arrive

  • Let us know which floor the room is on
  • Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

How to get a price

You don’t need a survey visit. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: we need a close-up, a wider picture and your postcode, and we’ll reply with a fixed quote.
