Bath re-enamelling in Burdrop, done in place
Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. We regularly repair Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and people most often call us about a roll-top that’s seen better days and lots of chips and rust spots.
The work is guaranteed for twelve months. If there’s a problem with the repair within the year, we return and sort it.

When we would advise against a repair
A few problems are outside what a surface repair can do:
- An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
- A metal bath with a through crack
- Steel that has corroded right through
Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer.

Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Pressed steel baths take a new finish well, once any rust has been treated. Steel often rusts by the plughole, so we check it carefully.
Roll-top and period baths
We can resurface a roll-top inside and out, and the outside can be refinished too.
The process
From the moment we arrive, the aim is to do the job without disturbing the rest of your home. Surfaces nearby are masked off, the work takes most of the day, depending on what we find, and we finish by cleaning up and talking you through the result.
- The bathroom is protected and ventilation set up.
- We remove the old silicone and deep clean the bath.
- Chips, rust and pitting are repaired.
- We key the bath and apply a bonding primer.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure until the next day.
Preparing for the visit
- Have a window or extractor fan available
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Let us know if it has been repaired before

Advice
Landlord and trade work in Burdrop
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We will fit around changeovers where we can.
We work for landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Burdrop as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it costs much less than replacing.
Repairing versus replacing in Burdrop
If the bath is sound, re-enamelling is generally much cheaper than replacing it, when you count removal, plumbing, tiling and decorating. It’s also far quicker. Resurfacing from £350, with every job priced individually. Every job is a little different, so we price each one individually. The size and type of damage, the material and access all make a difference, and combining jobs on one visit brings the cost down.

Can I fix it myself?
We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and the old filler has to come out before a proper repair.
You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can tidy up a tiny mark. Where they fall down is colour and preparation: they come in a handful of shades, and if the surface is not prepared the repair won’t last.
Looking after it afterwards
Much of the damage we repair could have been avoided. A few tips:
- Fix dripping taps quickly
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
- Do not use the bath until it has fully cured
- Store bottles off the bath
Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, avoid suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Moisture gets underneath and makes it worse, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.
Signs you need bath re-enamelling in Burdrop
In hard water areas, limescale and the cleaning it needs wear enamel faster, and gritty cleaners are the worst culprits.
The things clients generally mention when they call are:
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- Enamel that is lost its shine and feels rough
- An old resurfacing that’s failing
- Stains that will not shift
What to look for in a quote
- What the guarantee covers, and for how long
- Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT
- Who will actually do the work
- How the room is protected while they work
