- An outdated colour you’d like to change
- Chips and rust in more than one place
- A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

Bath re-enamelling in Epwell, done in place
We resurface cast iron, steel and acrylic baths, including roll-tops and period baths. Several coats of finish go on over a bonding primer, after the bath has been cleaned, repaired and keyed. Whether it’s a bath that stays dull however much you clean it and a coating lifting around the plughole, we can normally put it right, on basins & shower trays, Victorian roll-tops and cast iron baths alike.
Every job is backed for twelve months, and the guarantee is the same wherever you live. If something goes wrong with the work, we come back.

What else we do in Epwell
Repairing versus replacing in Epwell
There are times replacing is better: if the bath is cracked through, if you want a different size or shape, or if you are refitting the entire room anyway. Otherwise, resurfacing usually wins. Prices start from £350. No two jobs are quite the same, so we price each one individually. What’s damaged, how badly and how easy it is to reach all make a difference, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.

FAQs for Epwell
Can you repair something that is been repaired before?
Generally, yes. The old repair comes out first.
Can you repair several things at once?
Yes. Doing several items on one visit typically costs less than separate visits. Send pictures of everything you’d like done.
Will it make a mess?
No. The work area is masked and covered, and we take our waste away with us.
Is a repair better than a new one?
Generally, yes. Replacement brings removal, refitting and making good, which a repair avoids. We’ll be honest if it’s not worth it.
What if the damage is worse than the pictures show?
We stop, show you and agree any change before carrying on. You won’t be charged for anything you haven’t agreed.
Do you cover Epwell?
We do. We send a technician to Epwell for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.
Can you resurface a pink bath in white?
Yes. Coloured baths can be resurfaced in white, and we can do the rest of the suite as well.
How long does re-enamelling last?
A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Gentle cleaning, no suction mats.
How to look after the repair
Once the work has cured, treat it gently:
- Repair dripping taps early
- Do not leave bottles, razors or sponges standing on the surface
- Avoid suction-cup mats
- Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners, don’t use suction bath mats, and keep bottles and razors off the surface.
Worn enamel only gets rougher with time, and rust spots spread under the surface. Acting earlier keeps the preparation simpler.
How it works
It’s a tidy, low-fuss visit. We agree the arrival time in advance, cover and mask the work area, and get on with the job, which normally takes most of the day. If we find something your pictures didn’t show, we’ll explain it before carrying on.
- We sheet, mask and ventilate the room.
- Old sealant is cut out and the bath is deep cleaned.
- We repair chips, rust spots and pitting.
- The surface is keyed and primed for the new finish.
- The new finish is sprayed on in several coats and left to cure.
Before we arrive
- Clear toiletries, mats and anything else from around the area
- Avoid using the area for a few hours before we arrive
- Tell us about parking, stairs or access

Work for landlords and builders
Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets cannot afford rooms out of action for long, so most of our work is done in a single visit. We’ll fit around changeovers where we can.
We regularly price jobs from inventory or check-out pictures. You can have a price before you arrange access, and we liaise with tenants about access if you’d like us to.
Repairs by material
Pressed steel
Under the enamel of a steel bath is thin metal. Once a chip exposes it, rust follows quickly, so the metal is treated and sealed before the repair.
Acrylic
Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.
Should I try a DIY kit first?
It’s natural to want to try a repair yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.
A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We take the old repair out and do it properly, so it will not stop us repairing it. Just mention it when you send photos, as it can add time.
When we’d advise against a repair
A repair is not always the answer, and we would rather say so up front. Repairs won’t solve:
- Anything hidden under an old coating, until we remove it
- A bath that is rusted through
- Leaking taps or wastes (a plumber’s job)
Send us pictures and we will tell you honestly.
