Common problems we fix in Calver
Previous coatings can fail too, peeling around the waste or bubbling. Failing coatings are stripped back before we resurface.
Typical reasons for a call-out include:
- A bath in a colour that no longer suits
- An old resurfacing that’s failing
- An original cast iron bath that needs restoring
- Worn patches where water runs and sits

How we handle bath re-enamelling in Calver
Cast iron and steel baths are ideal for re-enamelling, and acrylic baths can be resurfaced too. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. We work on cast iron baths, basins & shower trays and pressed steel baths, and the jobs we see most are a roll-top that’s seen better days and an outdated colour you’d like to change.
Peace of mind is built in: each job carries a one-year guarantee, and we explain what it covers before you book.

Materials and what they mean for the repair
Acrylic
We resurface acrylic baths as well, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.
Cast iron
Cast iron baths are so heavy that repairing in place makes obvious sense. The enamel is the part that wears or chips, and that is what we repair.
Repair or replace: which is better?
When the bathroom is fine apart from the bath’s finish, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Tiles, panels and taps stay put. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. We don’t add extras on the day. What we quote from your photos is what you pay, unless the damage turns out to be different, in which case we talk to you first.

Aftercare tips
Most damage we see is avoidable. A few tips:
- Use washing-up liquid and a soft cloth
- Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs immediately
- Do not leave a chip unrepaired
- A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
The first few days matter most: give it the full curing time, then clean it gently. After that, no abrasives and no suction mats.
If a previous coating is starting to peel, don’t pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so have it stripped and resurfaced.
Questions from Calver
Does the bath have to be removed?
No. We resurface it in place, so the tiles and taps stay put.
Is my repair covered?
All our work carries our one-year guarantee. We’ll explain what it covers when we quote.
Do you come to Calver?
Yes. We work across the UK and travel to Calver. Send pictures and we will quote, or call 0345 017 0787.
Can a failed resurfacing be redone?
Yes. Removing the old finish takes extra time, which we include in the price.
Do I have to be there?
Yes. The technician needs access to the room for the visit, at a time that suits you.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We work for landlords, agents, builders and businesses as well as homeowners across Derbyshire.
I’m a tenant. Can you help?
Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.
Do the materials smell?
It depends on the job, but frequently a little. Ventilation keeps it to a minimum.

Should I try a DIY kit first?
Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.
A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.
Landlord and trade work in Calver
We regularly work with letting and managing agents. Send the address, pictures and access details.
Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Calver use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.
What bath re-enamelling costs
Prices start from £350. We charge the same across the UK, including Calver. The price reflects:
- How many items we do on one visit
- What the surface is made of
- Whether old repairs or coatings need taking off
- How many areas need work
Every job is a little different, so each one is priced on its own. The size and type of damage, the material and access all play a part, and doing several things on one visit costs less than separate visits.
How to get a fixed price
You can take the pictures on your phone, there’s no need for anything special. Ensure they show:
- Details of any past repairs
- A wider photo showing the whole bath
- Something in shot to show the size
- The material, if you know it
A quote takes minutes to ask for: photograph the damage, then the entire bath, add your postcode and send them to us. You will get a fixed price, not an estimate.
What happens on the day
The work is clean and fairly quiet. Protection goes down first, then the work takes a full day. At the end we talk you through how soon it can be used and how to care for it.
- We check the bath and agree the finish with you.
- Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
- We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
- We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
- The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.
Before we arrive
- Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible
- Tell us if there are stairs or a lift
- Mention any parking restrictions or tricky access
Ask for a price
Getting a price is easy: take a close-up of the damage and a photo from further back, send them over with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed price back. Quotes are free and no obligation.
