Bath re-enamelling near Carrington

Bath re-enamelling in Carrington without replacing anything

If your bath is sound but looks tired, re-enamelling is normally the most cost-effective option. There’s no removal, plumbing or tiling involved. We work on acrylic baths, basins & shower trays and Victorian roll-tops, and people most often call us about a period or roll-top bath worth keeping and enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Midlothian.

What we cannot put right

In fairness, there are a few things a repair will not fix:

  • An acrylic bath that flexes badly underfoot
  • Damage hidden under a previous coating, until it’s stripped back
  • Plumbing leaks, which need a plumber

If in doubt, send pictures and we will say what we think.

Materials we work on in Carrington

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Cast iron baths
  • Pressed steel baths
  • Acrylic baths

What your bath is made of matters

Acrylic

Acrylic is light and warm to the touch, but it relies on good support. Repairs to cracks are reinforced from the back.

Pressed steel

Steel baths re-enamel well, once any rust has been treated. Rust around the waste is common on steel, so we pay close attention there.

Why repair rather than replace?

If you like your bathroom but not your bath’s surface, resurfacing is the simplest answer. Nothing else is disturbed. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Most people are surprised how affordable a repair is, particularly next to the cost of replacement. Photos let us give you the exact figure.

How it works

A typical visit goes like this: we arrive at the agreed slot, protect everything around the work area, do the job and tidy away. Allow a full day. Before we go, we’ll explain how long to leave it and how to look after it.

  1. First we protect the bathroom and set up ventilation.
  2. Next we degrease the bath and fix chips and rust spots.
  3. We key the surface and put on a bonding primer.
  4. Several coats of new finish are sprayed on.
  5. Once cured, normally by the day after, the bath is ready.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Tell us about any previous repairs or coatings
  • Have somewhere for us to park nearby if possible

Advice

How to look after the repair

A little care keeps the finish looking good. We recommend:

  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Do not let dyes or oils sit on the finish
  • Have chips seen to early
  • Repair dripping taps early

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, because they can mark the finish. Repair dripping taps promptly.

Leave a peeling coating alone. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

Questions from Carrington

Is my repair covered?

Every repair comes with a one-year guarantee. Ask us what it covers when you get your quote.

How long will the bath be out of use?

Most baths are done in a day, ready the day after. We will confirm timings when we quote.

What if the damage is worse than the photos show?

If we find something the photos didn’t show, we explain it first. The price only changes if you agree.

Do you cover Carrington?

Yes. We work across the UK and come to Carrington and the rest of Midlothian. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

Can you quote from pictures?

Yes, almost always. A close-up and a wider photo are enough to give a fixed quote.

Do you need to take the bath out?

No. It’s re-enamelled where it stands, so nothing else is disturbed.

Do you charge for travel?

No. Our quotes include travel, and we charge the same wherever you are.

What areas do you cover?

We cover the whole UK, including Carrington and the rest of Midlothian. Send your postcode with your photos and we will confirm dates.

Can I fix it myself?

You can buy a DIY kit for most repairs, and they can make a small mark look better. The trouble is colour and preparation: kits come in a few standard shades, and without proper cleaning and keying the filler frequently lifts.

A DIY attempt isn’t a disaster. We remove the old filler and start again, so it doesn’t stop a professional repair. It does add a little time, so tell us about it when you send photos.

Prices and what affects them

Resurfacing from £350. There are no hourly rates or hidden extras. The price depends on:

  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • Unusual colours or finishes
  • Access to the area
  • The type of damage

There are no surprise extras on the day. The price we quote from your photos is the price you pay, and if the damage turns out to be different, we discuss it before starting.

Getting a price from pictures

It only takes a minute to photograph the damage. Please include:

  • The postcode, so we can plan the visit
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Natural light rather than flash
  • What it’s made of, if you know

No survey visit is needed: we price from photos. Use the quote form, or ring 0345 017 0787 to talk it through, and you will get a fixed figure back.

Work for landlords and builders

Landlords, letting agents and housing providers in Carrington use us as well as householders. A repair between tenants keeps the property empty for less time, and it typically costs far less than a refit.

If you manage property in Carrington, we’ll quote for several properties at once. Just send pictures for each address and we will come back with a combined price.
