Different materials, different repairs

Roll-top and period baths

Freestanding roll-tops can be done inside and out, with the outside refinished as well.

Acrylic

Acrylic baths can be resurfaced too, using a system that bonds to acrylic. It must be solid and not flex underfoot.

Bath re-enamelling in Crane Moor, done in place

After cleaning, repairing and priming, we spray on the new finish. Most of the work, and most of the durability, is in the preparation, and we take our time over it. Common call-outs are for thin, worn enamel in places and an old resurfacing that’s failing, across cast iron baths, acrylic baths and pressed steel baths.

All of our repairs are guaranteed for twelve months. We return to put right any problem with the work.

How to look after the repair

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Stick to gentle, non-abrasive cleaners
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly
  • Wipe the bath dry after use in hard water areas
  • Respect the curing time we give you

A quick rinse and wipe after use helps, especially in hard water areas, so limescale can’t build up.

If a previous coating is starting to peel, do not pick at it. Water gets under it and the damage spreads, so it’s better to have it stripped and redone.

When a repair isn’t the answer

Some problems need a builder, plumber or fitter rather than us:

  • Steel that has corroded right through
  • A metal bath with a through crack
  • Leaks from fittings rather than the bath

Not sure? Send pictures and we’ll give you a straight answer before booking.

What we work on

  • Victorian roll-tops
  • Acrylic baths
  • Cast iron baths
  • Basins & shower trays
  • Pressed steel baths

Work for landlords and builders

We are used to working with agents and managing companies. Just send pictures, the address and how to get access and we’ll arrange it.

We carry out planned and one-off repairs for housing associations and facilities teams. A repair avoids taking out and refitting, which is easier on the people living there.

How the visit works

We begin by going over the job with you, so you know exactly what we are doing. Next, we cover and mask everything nearby and we start. Allow the best part of a day, and we will keep you posted as we go.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. We apply the primer and then the finish coats.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Preparing for the visit

  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing
  • Have a window or extractor fan available
  • Let the surface dry out before the visit

Advice

FAQs for Crane Moor

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes, though it’s best to check with your landlord first. Many landlords are happy for a repair to be arranged.

Do you work in Crane Moor?

Yes, we do. We send a technician to Crane Moor for every job, and the price is the same as everywhere else.

Can you resurface a pink bath in white?

Yes, most people go for white. Mention the colour you want when you send photos.

How long does re-enamelling last?

A well-prepared finish lasts a long time if it’s looked after. Avoid abrasive cleaners and suction mats.

Are you accredited?

We hold CHAS, Constructionline, SafeContractor, SMAS Worksafe and Builder’s Profile accreditations.

Can you price it without visiting?

Nearly always. If pictures don’t show enough, we will ask for another angle.

Do you work for landlords and businesses?

We do, regularly. We can quote for several properties together and work between tenancies.

How much does bath re-enamelling cost in Crane Moor?

Resurfacing from £350. The exact price depends on the damage, so we quote from photos. You know the full cost before anything is booked.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. Prices are worked out job by job, from your pictures. What matters most is:

  • How easy the damage is to reach
  • Whether we combine several jobs
  • How many areas need work
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear

Set against the cost of replacement, repairing generally costs far less, because nothing has to be taken out, refitted or made good. Your fixed quote shows exactly what’s included.

How to get a fixed quote

We price nearly every job from pictures. This is what we need:

  • A wider photo showing the whole bath
  • One sharp close-up of the damage
  • The material, if you know it
  • Natural light rather than flash

There’s no need for us to visit first. Photos are enough for us to price nearly every job: send a close-up, a wider shot and your postcode, and we’ll come back to you with a fixed figure.

Can I fix it myself?

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The trouble is that kit repairs often look fine at first and then fail, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Kits are cheap and easy to find, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is generally the cheaper route.

Repair or replace: which is better?

Replacing a bath normally involves a plumber, a fitter and a tiler. Resurfacing is one technician, normally in a day, with the bath ready the day after. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. What it costs depends on how much damage there is and what kind, the material and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed quote from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.
