Bath re-enamelling for Daw's End homes

Bath re-enamelling at your home in Daw's End

The bath stays where it is, so the taps, tiles and plumbing are not touched. It generally takes one visit, with the bath ready to use the following day. Typical jobs include staining under the taps and around the waste and a bath that stays dull however much you clean it, in Victorian roll-tops, pressed steel baths and acrylic baths.

All our work comes with a one-year guarantee, wherever you are in Hertfordshire.

How it works

We agree an arrival time beforehand, so you’re not left guessing. Once we are there, the work takes most of the day for most jobs. We leave the room clean.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Everything around the bath is masked and covered.
  3. The bath is degreased, repaired and keyed.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. We remove the masking, tidy up and give you the curing time.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Keep a parking space free if you can
  • Plan for the room to be out of bounds to pets and children
  • Mention any earlier repairs or resurfacing

Pricing is simple: snap the damage close up and then the whole item, send them to us with your postcode, and you’ll get a fixed quote back. There’s no charge for the quote and you are under no obligation.

Related advice

Keeping it looking good

Once the work has cured, treat it gently:

  • Keep toiletries on a shelf rather than in the bath
  • Respect the curing time we give you
  • Get any chip repaired quickly
  • Never use suction bath mats

Rinse the bath and wipe it over after use, particularly where water is hard, to stop limescale building up.

Don’t try to scrub a worn bath back to shine. It just wears the enamel further.

What your bath is made of matters

Cast iron

Re-enamelling suits cast iron baths perfectly. They’re built to last, and only the surface wears, so a new finish makes them look new again.

Acrylic

Acrylic feels warm and is light, but it relies on good support. Cracks are strengthened from behind before the front is finished.

Daw's End questions

Do you come to Daw's End?

Yes. We cover the whole UK and travel to Daw's End and the rest of Hertfordshire. Send us photos for a fixed quote, or call 0345 017 0787.

How quickly can you book me in?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Send pictures with your postcode and we’ll reply with the earliest dates.

Will the new finish last?

It depends on preparation, use and care. Properly prepared and looked after, it lasts well, and our work is guaranteed for a year.

I’m a tenant. Can you help?

Yes. Check with your landlord; we can send the quote to them too.

Will it make a mess?

Dust sheets and masking go down before we start, and tidy up before we leave.

How do I book?

Photos of the damage, a picture of the entire bath and your postcode. After that, we just agree a date.

Can you do more than one item on the same visit?

Of course, and it generally saves money. Just add the extra items to your photos and we’ll quote them together.

Is my repair covered?

Yes: twelve months. If anything goes wrong with the repair within the year, we return to fix it.

Landlord and trade work in Daw's End

Hotels, guest houses and holiday lets need rooms back in use quickly, so we keep visits short and tidy. We will fit around changeovers where we can.

We also carry out snagging repairs for builders and developers, putting right damage done during fitting so nothing needs replacing. We hold CHAS, Constructionline and SafeContractor accreditations.

What bath re-enamelling costs

Prices start from £350. A fixed quote means you know the cost before booking. We look at:

  • Doing more than one item at once
  • The material and finish
  • Whether it’s a chip, crack, burn or wear
  • How much damage there is

The price depends on how much damage there is and what kind, what it’s made of and how many items we do on one visit. You get a fixed price from your photos, so there are no surprises on the day.

Getting a price from photos

The better the pictures, the more accurate the price. Here’s what we find most useful:

  • The material, if you know it
  • One picture of the whole bath
  • Whether it’s been repaired or coated before
  • Good light, ideally daylight, without flash glare

A quote takes minutes to ask for: take one close-up and one wider shot of the bath, include your postcode and send them over. What comes back is a fixed price, not a guess.

DIY kit or professional repair?

It’s tempting to reach for a kit, but many of the jobs we do start with putting right a DIY repair. Doing it properly first is usually the cheaper route.

A kit can be fine for a tiny mark out of sight. For anything you look at every day, anything that has rusted, cracked or holed, or anything on a coloured surface, it’s worth having it done properly.

What we are called out for in Daw's End

Sometimes it’s an earlier resurfacing that has failed, lifting by the plughole or blistering. We strip what’s failing and start again.

Send us a picture if you notice any of these:

  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Several chips and rust patches
  • Enamel that’s lost its shine and feels rough
  • A period or roll-top bath worth keeping

What your quote should include

  • How soon you can use it again
  • What prep work is covered
  • What protection goes down before work starts
  • Whether the price is fixed and includes VAT

Our hiring checklist

Repair or replace in Daw's End?

Getting a cast iron bath out is hard work: they’re heavy, often need breaking up, and a new one isn’t cheap. Resurfacing in place avoids that entirely. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. Damage, material and access decide it, and doing several items at once reduces it.

What you get with us

  • No extra charge for your area
  • Colour mixed on the day to match
  • Technicians who travel to you, UK-wide
  • Straight answers about what a repair can do
