Bath re-enamelling for East-the-Water homes

Why repair rather than replace?

Replacing a bath can take several days across several trades. Re-enamelling is one technician, generally one day. Our bath re-enamelling starts from £350. Instead of hourly rates, we fix the price before we start. It depends on the damage, the material and access, and doing several items at once reduces it.

Bath re-enamelling at your home in East-the-Water

Re-enamelling works especially well on cast iron and steel, and we can resurface acrylic baths as well. The result is a smooth, even, glossy finish. We regularly repair acrylic baths, pressed steel baths and cast iron baths, and the jobs we see most are chips and rust in more than one place and a coating lifting around the plughole.

You’re covered for a year from the day of the repair. Just call us if there’s a problem and we will sort it.

Can I fix it myself?

If you do try a kit, read the instructions carefully and work on a clean, dry surface, and give it the full curing time. If it does not work out, we can still repair it properly.

We understand the appeal of fixing it yourself. The risk is that a kit repair hides the damage for a while, then fails, and then the old filler has to be removed first.

Looking after it afterwards

To keep it looking its best for years:

  • Rinse off hair dye, oils and bath bombs straight away
  • Dry the bath after use to stop limescale
  • Never use suction bath mats
  • A dripping tap should be fixed promptly

Avoid hair dye, bath bombs and oils sitting on the surface, as they can stain. Fix dripping taps quickly.

On a worn bath, rust spots keep spreading and make the job bigger. It’s simpler to resurface before they spread.

Signs you need bath re-enamelling in East-the-Water

Many baths we resurface have simply been well used, and only the surface is worn. The body of the bath is usually perfectly sound.

Send us a photo if you notice any of these:

  • An outdated colour you’d like to change
  • A coating lifting around the plughole
  • Chips and rust in more than one place
  • Wear marks under the taps

What your quote should include

  • Is the price fixed, and does it include VAT?
  • How long the guarantee is and what it covers
  • Whether the colour is mixed to match
  • Who turns up on the day

How the visit works

The work is clean and fairly quiet, so you can stay at home while we’re there. Protection goes down first, then the job itself takes most of the day. At the end we talk you through the curing time and the aftercare.

  1. First we look the bath over and confirm the finish.
  2. Taps, tiles and the floor are masked off.
  3. We degrease the bath, fix any damage and key the surface.
  4. Primer and finish coats are applied.
  5. The masking comes off, we tidy up and tell you when it can be used.

Getting ready for the visit

  • Let the surface dry out before the visit
  • Make sure the room can be ventilated
  • Let us know about parking or access
